with a longsword, it felt like enemies (mobs and bosses alike) were just out of reach, and just had the range to beat you on a trade. now i can swing after a dodge and just barely catch an enemy.
the staggering also seems to be more useful. i won't claim to know the poise mechanics, but with a longsword it felt like after the 2nd hit, enemies were done being staggered, meaning that 3h combos were certain death. with a claymore, every hit seems to stagger, and i guess that comes from the number of times you are hitting them in a given time period?

It looks great but those dark gloomy towns and swamps are my most hated areas in souls games. Yarnham has great architecture, and later areas spice it up. Their is one forest area and it is NOTHING like blighttown/valley of defilement/gutter/farron, in fact it is one of my favorite areas in the game.
