I liked the Deacon boss fight. I thought the idea of having to brute force your way through a horde of weak enemies in order to hit the glowing one was a nice change of pace from the typical passivity of the souls games.

Ok, I'm confused now. I freed that guy as soon as I got to him. I never spoke to him in the firelink shrine, so I never got any levels off him. I remember talking to Yuria, but she's gone now. I gave the fire keeper the fire keeper soul and that gave me the option to "heal the dark sigil" and I tried that as soon as I gave her the soul, but it said I didn't have one. I don't think I ever had this dark sigil. Also, Yuria has been gone since the first time I spoke to her.

On the exterior of the Cathedral of the Deep, make a small jump onto a rooftop. Follow that upward to the roof of the Cathedral itself. The openings here lead to the rafters of the interior area.
Stay the FUCK away from the Cathedral Knights up here. Look down with the camera to see a balcony you can drop to.
Follow this area and you'll eventually find Rosaria, Gwynevere's daughter.

Almost everything that can be infused has no better than C scaling to start with. So really just infuse with whatever stat you're pumping into whatever weapon you like the moveset for. It can save you a lot of points like if you wanted to use a greatshield with a heavy infused spear or straight straight sword so you can pump points into VIG or END instead of DEX.

Real Crystal Sage has a purple aura.
Abyss Walker Form 1 is easily dealt with. When both are out and hunting you, be defensive until the 3rd guy joins. When he does, take advantage of the situation and attack the boss or his lackey. Rinse and repeat. The 3rd guy does a number to the bosses health.
The 2nd phase is pure pattern recognition.

The game is starting to annoy me now. At first I thought it was the most challenging in the series (including BB and DeS) but now it's starting to run me the wrong way.
I feel weak as FUCK, almost everything nearly one shots me, and most other things DO one shot me, despite wearing a full set of Dark Armor, or any other set for that matter.
I also hate that they went down the whole "FUCK SHIELDS" route again but didn't design around it, unlike BB. Certain enemies like the Pontiff Knights or the Alligator-Dog in Ithyrill rape you regardess of if you roll or shield.
The pontiff knights for example, have like a 6-hit chasing combo that'll completely drain you of stamina if you shield and is almost impossible to roll away from.
They also made magic and ranged shit too important. There's sections of the game that seem almost impossible to do without the use of ranged shit.

They're scattered throughout the area. Look for the chimneys with flames spewing out of them. Each candle is directly below those chimneys. They're pretty tall so it's easy to spot them from a distance, then it's just a case of making you way towards them and extinguishing the candles.
Once you've done that, the boss area is directly opposite the bonfire you're currently at. A big stone door will open, you can't miss it.
Being a watchdog is so fun

You can lure into an area to your right so you don't have to worry about sniper. Then it's just all the other knights. Try to parry him or just backstab fish. Not sure about DEX weapons but a big STR weapon will stagger him a little so you can get a few hits in then roll away.

Dex/Pyromancy goes very well together. Faster casting speed, higher power pyromancy + access to quick dex weapons.
People will tell you that Pyromancy scales off of both Int and Faith, but the Faith scaling for Pyro is VERY weak. Just spec in Faith what you need for the pyromancies you want and the rest in Dex and Int. There's a halberd called the Immolation Tinder that has B scaling in Int.
Also, most magic is shit. Int and Faith scaling is bugged on a lot of things, so the only safe bets ATM are the buffs and simple projectile things.

I'd say pick Str or Dex and level one of them instead of both, unless you specifically want to make a Quality build then you're on the right track.
Does anyone else sort of miss the feel of Dark Souls 2? The level design is so fucking whacky and surrealistic (not intentionally) it feels like a god damn fever dream.
DS3 has some nice comfy levels, lots of cool open spaces, but feels like it is lacking a nice sense of pacing. The upward ascent of DS1 is really hard to match.

The combination of a fuckload of HP + chain attacks that drain your HP make it hard to do much sometimes, especially against packs of enemies.
I only have like 21 poise though so maybe if you fucking get fat as fuck things might be different but I dunno.

That's how it works with a few of these bosses, you just can't take a hit. If your damage is really THAT bad then you probably aren't level'd to do that content yet. Have you killed the giant yet? His path connects to that area so you can go that way for some level ups then return later.

Int and Faith scaling is fucked on many Pyromancies, Miracles, and Sorceries.
You don't get worthwhile miracles until quite a ways into the game.
Just keep that in mind. You'll mainly be a Dex character with some Faith shit on the side.

I just went up to the balista area. There isn't that much. Some bonewheels and a few guys.
There were some items up here but I didn't really think they were useful so I forgot what I picked up. (I haven't slept in a few days. For a multitude of reasons. Mainly insomnia combined with Dark Souls 3)
As for the lava. I'm not sure. I haven't tried to walk in it yet because I get this weird feeling that if I do I'm gonna fucking die. Looking for a ring or some boots or something that'll make me immune to it in smouldering blighttown. Will post progress reports if you're interested.

The three fat angels are the best place to grind for souls. They give 13000 each, can be backstabbed, and occasionally drop titanite chunks.
I've managed to completely buy out every vendor in Firelink after about a half hour of grinding.

I have a 980ti and a 4.3 OC 2500k and still get weird drops when picking up some items or seemingly randomly. Some areas even take me below 60 and keep me there when I'm facing certain directions.

Curved Swords:
Carthus Curved Sword is a good choice. It has D in Str and Dex, perfect for infusing it.
Falchion is another good choice.
Spears:
Lothric Knight Spear and Partisan are two good choices.
Oddly, there's a lot of weapons in both categories with C or better scaling or can't be infused/buffed.
