Similarly, for things in the foreground, you can obfuscate them out a little because they catch the eye too much. Your little stream of water catches more attention than your character.
An easy way to establish these things is to zoom far out and make the canvas really small, thumbnail sized, that will make it really easy to see the perspective of things
The sky is also lighter towards the horizon and darker at the endges / top of the canvas. This will also create a better composition, incidentally.

If you just make your request, and then ignore those responses, what can they do to you? Nothing. This "no OC" rule is not mod enforced. It's just a thing a few jackasses are holding on to. That's it. Most of the thread either support OC requests, or don't care either way. The ones against them are a minority.
