That's the thing - you see the character launching a skull out of a book and you think "he's a caster"; then, since you can't properly interpret the tiny ass sprites in Terraria, you just assume he's wearing regular ol' cloth, when it's actually heavy, sturdy, extraterrestrial metal.

I usually go 5000x5000, create a temporary border as a layer, draw around then, then crop where appropriate. Depends on how comfortable you are with resolution size, but more room guarantees that you won't run out of space or lose quality if you need it to be bigger.
