Fun game, good amount of content, good replayability.
It's got an amazing aesthetic, god-tier audiovisual design.
The combat system is fun and it's one of the few games I can think of where the way you play completely changes the story throughout the entire game.
Considering how much shit we all give to games like ME3 and Life is Strange for having meaningless choices, you'd think people would give praise when a game makes your choices actually matter.
Honestly it's the greatest game of all time. I played through all 3 endings and I've gotta say it's better than classics like OoT, Super Mario 64, and even Pokemon Red.

Its a story-driven game so of course /v/ will hate on it.
The humor is decent, the touhou style battles are pretty fun and the large amount of speech and in-battle speech options add some variety.
Its a decent game, probably so popular because of the humor and the characters are relatable to several large internet communities. Toby was probably able to use his experience from working for Homestuck (ugh) to know how to appeal to a wider audience.
The best part of the game is definitely the soundtrack. I was surprised to learn that Toby was a musician before he was a game developer. The music is great and adds a lot to the different segments/battles in the game.
/v/irgin's gripes with the game are petty and shallow. Its definitely worth playing to form your own opinion, whether you torrent it or not.

Game is good, I enjoyed it thoroughly. I think that the fact that the developer refuses to add anything regarding W.D Gaster into the game is absolutely retarded, there's a mystery there that needs solving.

I think you're delusional, but whatever floats your boat. There's a lot of us who actually really liked the game and would have no problem recommending it to outside sources, but can't stand any of the GameFAQs polls or stupid threads about "WOULD YOU FUCK A SPIDER?"
I think it's good, but not as people make it out to be. Story is flimsy once you start thinking about it, the implication of the meta narrative coming together with the story is kinda forced, Toby makes a comment on the players themselves and their attitudes towards games and seeing everything, but he never goes anywhere with it, in the nd everyone lived happily ever after.
Some writing was honestly cringeworthy (Temmie, Papyrus, some Alphys lines, Tsundereplane). Everyone is a bleeding heart, no one is ever ill intentioned, not even Undyne wich made for good conflict until you get to date her. And that's the story's biggest flaw, it's to positive, any hints of evil or negativity are looked down upon, and it thinks that everything can be solved through talking.
The game also lacks any real content, easter eggs don't count, those programing tricks Toby did just give the game a little flavor.
It's a game that only impresses people who don't really play a lot of games

Tries to hard to be funny and edgy at the same time. Combat seems neat and creative, and technically the game is pretty well done. A lot of thought went into character interactions and gameplay and it is all handled really well. The try hardiness kills it for me though. The game is fun in the same way a bad sitcom is fun. A lot of work went into it, and the creator really cared about it, but you're still watching Everybody Loves Raymond.
Best indie game of 2015 is Rocket League.
