I actually think that's not that relevant since they apparently made most moves stronger than their pokemon counterparts. You begin the game with 55 base moves, while in pokemon that's usually only 40. Attacks with 130 base damage exist as counterparts to ones with 120 and such happens for a few other things.

It's really stupid. Why not just give me the money outright? Why do I have to run back to the nearest store? The result will be the same either way, so it's just adding an unnecesary step.

I'm still early in the game, but I wish I was finding characters that I liked instead of all these shitty fairies.
I went to the forest to go find Alice and the only puppet I felt like catching in that maze was...Alice.
Her and Sanae are the only two puppets I have. I feel like the game is trying to get me catch more 2hu. but it sucks when a majority of them aren't interesting. It's probably just my fault since I like the main characters over anything else.

If you're talking about only main ones, you should already be able to find a Marisa around. Reimu only much later. I guess you'll also like the SDM puppets, but remember the stronger/more important characters lore-wise tend to be rarer.

I'll spell it out
Get a S.momiji to lvl 36 where it learns returning swallow and restitution. Make sure it has fair and square, which pevents 1hitkos.
A lvl 70 puppet will very likely take her down to 1hp, where you can use restitution to bring it to the same hp as you, where you can finish it off with you're swallow move. just send out a spare puppet first so you can use a seal and use momiji to defeat it.
You can either keep battling like this, though you'll have to heal momiji to full hp after each fight, or use this to catch a couple of lvl 70 which are much better at fighting then anything you have now.
Doesn't matter if you like momiji or not. This is simply the fastest way since you fucked up with reincarnation.

Ok, you have to realize that there are multiple ways to get into Gensokyo. You can just sort of enter yourself, or you could be spirited away by Yukari.
If Yukari spirits you away, you're fucked, as you're kind of under her jurisdiction.
If you end up in Gensokyo on your own, you're only probably fucked. It is true that the average human in Gensokyo is probably stronger than the average youkai, but you're just a normal outsider, even a weak as fuck youkai could probably wreck your shit, and you're way more likely to run into a youkai than you are a human. PMiSS confirms that entering Gensokyo this way is rare, and people entering Gensokyo this way rarely survive the ordeal.
