How?
As a kid I didn't knew how to construct a deck until I reached the Grand Masters and kept getting raped over and over again.

2 years later I found out how to do it and had the time of my life.
>>
>>318532057
I dunno man. I think i just had horrible luck every match
>>
>get to the elite four
>little bro overwrites my save
Maybe one day I'll replay it. Wasn't it released on the eshop recently?
>>
When you are playing a video game why can't they just be the real thing? The entire point why people play cards is because they can't battle Pokemans in real life and that is the closest thing they can do, so when you have a digital device why not just simulate the real thing, like Pokeman Red and Blue?

I know there are a lot of video game card games and the same goes for all of those.

There is even a Pokemon TCG Online that's currently in Beta.

>>
>>318532435
I guess it's a clever excuse to be lazy, instead of drawing a bunch of shit and animating them you can just draw a static piece of cardboard and be done with it.

Not underrated but a hidden gem that is Grim Dawn. It's still early access but the game is really stable and full of content. Devs keep pushing updates every month and with the new devotion system there is no limit to create the build you want. Lore is great if you're into lovecraft. Artstyle and sound design add up to the fun of killing tons of monsters.

Maybe I wanna play a card game but not spend four thousand dollars building the absolute best deck and then going around to card shops to play it with other people

I've been getting super into yugioh: legacy of the duelist lately and I haven't given a shit about this series since like 2006 before picking it up. I just like having fun with card games and not going through all the hassle of actually trying to get a game started.
>>
>>318533889
They don't release new content every month in-game but everything else seems to be correct.

Grim Dawn is a good game and more people should play it.

>>
>>318532435
The real thing is just like every other card game, which is a super jew scheme to take money off of retards. Instead of buying a complete game with a reasonable price, you buy parts of it. You either gamble with booster packs, buy a pre-made deck that is never as good as a custom made thing or buy individual cards for a fortune. And then they later launch better cards or ban your older ones to force you to spend more. It's manages to be a much worse scheme than f2p games like LoL that /v/ hates.

Nah, it's determined at the start of each turn what any potential flips will be due to rng seeds.
If you get a bad flip, you can restart the game and begin the turn again, but the flips will be exactly the same.
Even if you use save states on an emulator.

>>
>>318532769

It can win on the first turn, Pokemon TCG sucks but its one advantage is that you can stall/stop an OTK.

For example, this deck wouldn't win against a First hand of Zap/Zap/Zap/M2+Support.

That, and any hand and deck can win on the second turn, it's not that special. It might still be objectively the best from that game though.
>>
>>318541393
Yeah, they made it even better.

My favorite deck was using the Nidoran family and that one Nidorina that did more damage based on how many you had out.

It's got most (if not all, I'm not 100% sure) of the cards in the first game plus a fuckton of the Rocket set of cards, plus a bunch of new promos. It's got the original Pokemon TCG landmass in addition to a new island as well.

It's pretty much all anyone could ask for if you loved the first game.
>>
>>318540908

I know because I abused the fuck out of it. You could see what the flips will be for one of those "flip a coin until tails" attacks then use that information to determine what attack or pokemon or trainer cards you should use to make the most of it. Also helps if you are confused as to whether you should bother trying to attack or not.

Nigga the only pokemon worth involving I the base set meta was blastoise. Everything else was about speed and 60 damage, since if you can hit for 60 you can 2hko anything in base in normal circumstances.
Electabuzz, hitmonchan and scyther were the undisputed kings because of their low energy costs, hitmonchan especially because it had 70 health.

I fully agree, played it like crazy as a kid, collected every card in the game. Took me forever but even grinding was fun during the random rewards

For some reason all of our black cartridge games had their save fucked. You could hear something inside the cartridge when you shook Zelda DX.

This and Zelda DX wouldn't save for one reason or another, so I usually just played and played until the batteries died or I just couldn't continue forward.

I eventually played through both again and had a lot of fun. Pokemon TCG was a real gem and I honestly don't know why it was so good. It had no right to be but it was.

I still remember the one time I destroyed my rival with a Selfdestruct. It was too perfect.

>Keep getting his cards down to 2 counters of health
>Eventually he keep switching out for stronger monsters and was doing pretty well since he switched out against me a lot
>Card prizes eventually became 5-1
>I was down to my Magnemite, and if this was defeated I would lose
>Evolved it into Magneton but didn't know what to do next
>Check his bench
>All monsters has 2 counters of health, and he had 4 monsters
>Check Magneton's self destruct
>"Takes out the opponents monster and does two damage counter worth of damage to benched Pokémon"
>mfw
>Use Self Destruct
>Destroy his current monster and all his benched Pokémon
>This allowed me to pick up 5 cards and win the duel

I love when shit like that happens in Yugioh, but when it happens in Pokemon, it's a different feel entirely.
>>
>>318543886

Well when they get KO'd your opponent takes 2 prizes cards. That's about it.
>>
>>318531587
>playing this game later and realizing how degenerate this card game is

>draw into bill the free 2 cards

A lot of cartridge games from the GBA and back used to use a small battery inside them in order to save or save certain contents like time and such. They tend to go out after some years. They can be replaced, you can look up on some guides on how to do it but it's easyer to just emulate.

Not really. Not trying to start a yugioh vs pokemon debait but the Yu-gi-oh games, specifically the Tag Force(1-3) games, did a lot of things that reminded me a lot of TCG but a bit better. I play the second one since it was translated a few years back

I'm stuck at the very end. I need all of the elite cards to face the masters but I only have 2/4. that's kind of shitty.

The second game is mostly the same. more cards, a LOT more battles I say. Also not every trainer gives you two booster packs. Having said that, the game is totally different because about 75% of the battles have some sort of stipulation (must have 4 ratatas, no resistance applied, no trainer cards). Luckily, the stipulations never solely work against you.

Also, these games are GREAT to play on your phone. a few turns if you have a few minutes available. a few more turns if you manipulate the fast forward button of an emulator.

It might be, The Sacred Cards had a similar mechanic that made no sense, certain normal monsters had effects and cards had weaknesses to other cards similar to Pokémon.

IIRC it turned out that there are two sets of rules for Yugioh. The one we know today, and this weird version that was apparently the original Konami version along with stealing the bullshit from the anime to make the cards all fucked up and retarded.

Certain versions of games got the normal rules, and others got the fucked up rules. I believe Worldwide Edition was the first game to have the normal rules.

Impossible. Its determined by a seed. Even if you power off the game during a match and continue at the start of the turn again, the flips will be exactly the same outcome.

You can try it yourself. Do something that requires a flip, multiple flips if yo want more accuracy. As soon as the final flip is done, restart the game. When you continue you will be at the start of the turn again, do the flips again and they will be the exact same results.

The seed is determine before you make the flip, not after.
Use save states on an emulator, that way you can rule out the game locking it in by using the continue function.

It made me realize how bad Yugioh: Forbidden Memories was.

And I really liked being able to play with 4 Oaks and 4 Bills. That's always fun.

actually the game lets you save after each battle so honestly it's pretty easy to cheese that one victory and move on

>Tfw never had a Charizard, Blastoise, or Ivysaur card

What the fuck was with this game and handing out the powerful Pokemon? I swear I never got half the best cards available.
