I've been rushing to the end of Xenoblade.
I got to the second form of the final boss and I can't beat it. It might be one of the most frustrating things that ever happened to me, being able to beat every mini-boss after the last point of no return and then get stuck right at the penultimate boss.
And now I'll have to grind, and do the whole ending again. How the fuck do you design a boss that can't be beaten even though you beat the four or five bosses RIGHT BEFORE IT?

Witcher 3 is a great, albeit very different, game.
Bloodborne does not scratch the same itch.
MGSV was a let down. The gameplay was great but the story was horrid.
XCX is a sequel to a very beloved game.

Comparing a game thats cel-shaded and has no complex texture work at all and focuses heavily on textures made out of color palets, to a game that does have alot of texture assets all over the damn place is a oximoron. Of course Xenoblade cannot and will not run at 1080p on the Wii U with the amount of data that game is forcing the console to process, wheras Wind Waker is a simple game visually. Resolution doesn't equate to a better looking art direction.

I'm not a NEET (unfortunately) so 50 hours means many, many long nights of gaming instead of just a few weeks or so. XC took me a month to finish and I'm only Level 30 in FO4 two weeks after release.

Take on quest
Fast Travel to area
Find X monsters to kill to farm for X item
Fast Travel back to NLA
Turn in quest/Take on quest
Rinse and repeat
The only real break is flying around with Engrish JPop blasting into your ears while you explore an area and put down a fast travel point.
I haven't felt this disappointed since Bravely Default.

The 12 story "missions" are actually quite long, each having at least half an hour of cutscenes at least, many having multiple boss fights.

Ive already seen the English cutscene of Lin & Tatsu in the kitchen & it made me laugh out loud. The cast has really good interactions with each other. Tatsu calls Lin "Linly" which is cute & calls refrigerators "ridfrigereaters". Seriously there more too the scene is pretty funny, but then Lin also has her serious moments.

Do as many quests as you want, they are typically a "collect this shit from here" or "kill this monster" kind of quests until you get a little further in the game when you have a little more of variety on them. Doing side quests will get you more than enough level for facing any challenge you will find ahead.

If you mean the stars that pop up when you talk to people or do quests, those are affinity with the local town. You can do them whenever you want, but it's good not to go completely overboard unless you're trying to unlock skill quests. Come back to them later when they won't give you a bunch of free levels without the ap/sp to show for it.
If you're planning to finish before X comes out, ignore all quests and focus the main story.

I enjoy the combat system. The problem is grinding in the game at end level requires you to fight a very specific subset of enemies in specific locations for hours on end- meaning you are using the same strategy over and over again- when all you really want to do is finish the game at this point. It would be great if a wall like this was way earlier in the game, like when you first get to Bionis field- to force you to explore and interact with the game world and shit. But when you are all the way at the end of the game and the world is at stake and the final boss is like 5 feet away from you but you cant do shit to him because you have to grind 5-10 levels first on the floating jellyfish enemies for 3 hours it really fucks shit up.

I am stuck on a grind wall near the end of the game. To put it simply, I have to fight a boss who is level 80, and I am only 75. I am fully aware that after this boss is the chain of boss fights with no room to grind that leads to the end of the game.
Would it be more efficient to go back and do sidequests to level up? Or is there a specific spot I should be grinding?
Also, so far the only side quests I have fun into so far are random kill X or find Y quests. Where are the interesting and fun sidequests?

Nah, I don't think it does. If you, by any chance, need any item from traders that require a higher level, just go back to the character you were using and that has a higher affinity to that place.
But I don't think it's important either. There is a certain place further in the game that will require that kind of item, but unless you are up for the 100 or 101% completion of the game, you won't need them and they are actually quite annoying to get.

Quests are often more efficient for pure xp, but they don't award points to power up your skills or arts, so it's up to you how you want to prioritize. Once you reach 80 or so you should be able to beat the game if you're careful.

Quest XP doesn't. Monster XP is affected by level, obviously. Go farm Satorl at night if you're in the high 70s or low 80s. Otherwise farm the sloths and wind cave on the leg. There are lots of endgame quests around, but you have to find them first.
