Why aren't there any games with realistic combat/dmg zones?
For example:

It's pretty good but it has the same writer as Zero Escape so you'll notice some major similarities

Climbing in Breath of the Wild had me thinking.
Why don't you see limitless mantling/climbing in other titles? There's stuff like Just Cause where you can grappling hook to everything at will, but often you're restricted to designated climbing paths like ropes or just rocky terrain with convenient ledges to Prince of Persia on. Or you just awkwardly hop up things like pretty much any Bethesda title.
But stuff like how in Zelda you can climb up pretty much any surface is rare.
It just seems odd in retrospect, considering none of these games put as much emphasis on level design as Zelda, where the ability to restrict how and where the player can move is fundamental to dungeon and puzzle design.
It is odd. Write off Bethesda for being fucking pathetic and using an ancient engine for all time that can barely handle what they throw at it.
What about say, GTA. Climbing is strangely absent there.

Why did people have problems with this guy again? I was almost 10 levels below recommended SL, and it only took me 15 tries where I wasn't embered.

Haven't played in like 8 years.
It's kind of gone to shit. Every game is made by a host bot. Most games are still DotA or some autistic melee that you'll get bored of after one game. It was better before the bots when there were cool and unique maps every time you hit the refresh button. Ladder is just ladder, nothing really changed in that area.
Ladder is still fun.

God damnit, I'm tired of most current day video games. They all push you to grind, farm, refine your skills over and over again with more and more boring gameplay just to achieve something, I don't fun any of that fun. Take for example League'o'Leggo - shit used to be pure fun in Season 3, (started playing early Season 2), you could go in a game alone and know you'll have fun, meet friendly people, enjoy the 30-or-so minutes. Now it's all about "getting gud", tryharding, and all for what? For that miniscule chance to get paid for playing the same game, same map, same few champions for 10+ hours a day, every single day?
World of Tanks. So many filler tanks that just scream at you "PAY TO SKIP ME TO ANOTHER FILLER TANK", all the same "git gud" bullshit and no messing around, all about just getting the most damage and kills while disregarding your team. I don't know, some people find it fun, but I don't. I already work 2 jobs to survive in this capitalistic bullshit of a world and have some money to spend where I want to, I don't need a 3rd one.
/v/, what are some genuinely FUN games, that are not just mindless grindfests or badly designed cash-cows? Nowadays I've just resorted to reading 4chan and watching youtube and shit instead of playing, it just feels to heart-crushing to see how I don't even want to open up video games anymore when a couple years ago I would skip lectures and chores just to play a couple extra minutes...FeelsBadMan

Find a series that you've always wanted to play, now play through every game. I've done it with Mega Man and Mega Man X, now I'm doing it with Fire Emblem.
If you're not into single-player stuff anymore, find something you like that's relevant like Overwatch.

What games are remarkably similar to DQ8 guys? I'm not a fan of jrpgs but this one seems to be the exception and I now consider it to be one of my favorite games ever.

What are some mannerisms you have imported from vidya?
I'll start:
1. From Solid Snake/Big Boss I copied the way they tend to repeat after people in a questioning manner. You know... how Snake asks "Metal Gear?" after someone has just said something about Metal Gear.
2. Assassin's Creed has taught me to give people a light push while navigating through a crowd. I also walk with my face facing down and my body a bit inclined forward when I wear a hood.
3. When I'm not feeling well, or (rarely happens) I've just been wounded, I sometimes hold a hand against my stomach while walking, like Leon from RE4.
4. In online games, I sometimes act like a unit from and RTS game and say something like "armed and ready" in the mic when I enter the game.
5. When I was in school, I used to run like Sonic with my hands behind my back.
There's others too, but these are the ones I've noticed more.
So, tell me about your vydia imported habits /v/.
