Why do people think consoles hold gaming back?
Is it not clear that making a console with more beef will cost more money making less people want to buy it due to the financial loss?
Does it not make sense that making a game that works on mid tier hardware will make more sales because such a small percentage of people are willing to spill that much money into a PC that contains god tier hardware?
Then there are people who complain about buyers remorse stating people say bad games are good to justify the purchase of their console. If a lot of people enjoy these "bad games" does it not suggest they are good games? Do you truly believe your opinion is greater than the masses because you THINK your opinion holds more weight than most people. Is it not a bigger expression of buyers remorse to call these games bad because they are that much behind your extremely expensive PC leaving you with less content to fully put it to the test?
Does it not make sense that rather than consoles holding back games it is just your PC is ahead of modern day standards? Why should the best of the best of the best be considered the standard when so few people invest in it?
And for the love of god why do people say things like "developers shouldn't be thinking of the money." Is it not their job? Is it not sensible to try and get the maximum amount of finance from your product? What motivation does a developer have to put in MORE effort to produce an outstanding looking game that LESS people will play due to hardware limitations? Why do you think developers OWE you a breakthrough game that runs on the most advanced hardware and will earn them less money when a good game will work on a wider range of hardware and make them more due to a larger target audience?

Its true, the PC holds the PC back, but only because we allow a console and tablet company to control the PC platform. Remove Windows and the PC platform would progress much more rapidly.
Unfortunately even with Microsoft's strengthening commitment to tablet with Windows 8 and 10, and the fact that they're now earning money off of their tablet business there will still be many people here in denial convinced that somehow Microsoft will turn around and return to making desktop operating systems, or that they'll be ok using an already badly out of date five year old OS for another six years.
