Who are the best?
Right now I'm using Terry, Carp, and Ajeet. I'm only keeping Terry around because I heard his final attack is amazing, but I'm having a hard time since he always dies in one hit.
I've been using the starters of Terry, Nern, and the drinking Arrow guy. Nern usually can talk to Nern to get his gauge up so Nern can rapid fire for a couple of turns.
Time to leave the thread so I don't get spoiled.

Why didn't they ever do something like this with any of the other games?
Because they realized that they didn't have to put any effort into their games, so they just pallet swapped the same stats onto random character models added bullshit distraction mechanics.
Besides, Red felt like a final boss, and they don't want you to stop playing. They want you to keep grinding.

How are some game previews completely different from the actual game that gets released? Are all the NPC movement, "cinematic effects", and other stuff that won't ever happen in game naturally just scripted into the game engine?

Radiant AI is fucking stupid. It sounds great on paper, but in practice it just means the NPC you're looking for has fucked off to another town for no reason and got in a fight with a bear along the way and is now dead and now you can never finish the questline.
