A few friends told me this was incredible. Played through the first episode. I like the concept, but the script is incredibly contrived. Does it get more interesting?

Episode 3 is the peak. Ending was a bit flat.If you know Donnie Darko, you mostly know what to expect here as far as the psueo-philosophical approach to time travel is concerned.

I personally think it gets pretty great in episodes 3 and 4. 5 is kind of a flop, and 2 was a minor step up from 1.
If you have any interest at all, I think you should give the later episodes a shot.
How is it possible that this game is probably like twenty times better than the newer game than dice made? I mean even if we ignore the fact that this game has got like fourty times more content it still completely destroys battlefront in the mechanics department and it is so much more skill based than battlefront that I am not even sure if I am supposed to find that sad or funny.It also runs way better without looking that much worse.

Nope. Back when I was younger it was cheaper to just rent games for a week versus buying them. Also meant I had a small as fuck SNES library though.
Allowance picked up the games I knew were keeper when they were on sale.

Honestly speaking, do you guys really think these two games would've looked a lot better if they were on the PS4/Vita/XBone?
I don't mean stuff like AA, better lighting, etc. but Bayonetta wasn't a graphically impressive game on the PS3 and it didn't sell that well for it to be a good business investment, and while MHP3rd was one of the best looking PSP games, many of Capcom's questionable decisions with MH suggest that they would've re-used most assets from every gen like they've been doing for years now.

Monster Hunter needs to be better at a lot of things, graphics are one.
Bayo 2 was pretty damn good looking, if only it could run at 60fps, though that's something ps4/bone couldn't do anyway.
Bayo 2 would looks like nothing on the PS4/vita/Xbone because it wouldnt exist without nintendo.
I'd love for MH to do some more console centered games, or even a PC game you can play outside of china. Unfortunately CAPCOM's partnership with nintendo makes both of them alot of money, so that isnt likely to happen any time soon.
