Hey /v/, what old-school JRPGs have you been playing lately? If you haven't, why not?
I started playing Phantasy Star I-IV recently and it's been great fun so far. Was the original series forgotten about, or did it never really take off? Is there any chance of PS III and IV getting remakes like I and II did? It seems PSO is the only thing Phantasy Star-related that Sega is interested in publishing these days.
Also, Alis is adorable.

Played the shit out of 2 and 3 growing up. Never got to play 1 or 4 until I got into emulation and actually had an itch recently to go back and play through them all, except I waited too long, got invested in other games.

Which I don't mind so much, just wish we would have gotten PSO2 and Nova in the west, the Portable series was great, high recommend playing them if you hadn't and enjoyed PSO.
Also Phantasy Star 0 is underrated.

Dunno if it counts as old school but I am looking to play Vagrant Story and Breath of Fire 3 when I get a chance.
Been playing Wild Arms 1, the translation is a bit wonky but it's a pretty solid game. And the writing manages to shine through regardless of goofy engrish like "Ray Lines" instead of Ley Lines

Although the humor is pretty decent.
Explain the appeal of Sonic. All it is is going right and jumping. It's basically just pressing buttons.

Alright, I always try to mess around as much as I can before entering a new areas in most games, unless they're dull and boring. Does the world on this one have some kind of appeal?
Also, loved gothic series back when I was a kid but played Risen 3 recently and I didn't like it and refunded it, so I don't know if it will happen again with this one

What the fuck was your problem with Risen 3? Did you literally just drop it at the linear tutorial section that lasts about 2 hours before you actually get to the meat of the game? Because I know for a fact most retards do that.
Anyhow Risen 1 is a carbon copy of Gothic 1 in many ways.
Think of it as Gothic 1 with better graphics and slightly different story and better controls and mechanics.
So, is this game actually worthbuying? Normally, I'd pirate it. But I feel like I need to encourage the kind of inclusive ideals that BioWare made this game with in mind.
