I'm sorry but turn-based combat in RPGs is fucking shit.
People say it's not, but it is. There is no real skill required. It is not fun or difficult or anything like that. Most of the time it comes down to basically spamming your best attack.
On the other hand, a solid action-based combat system like the Souls or MonHun games will be much deeper and more tactical than anything an action-based combat system could ever be. It's really not even close.
When did you realize that turn-based combat is shit for lowest common denominator plebs?

Literally the playerbase are dumb casuals
Take Black Desert for example, it started as a hardcore game with death penalties, looting people's corpses and challenging mobs, but the shitty community casuals who were used to playing their shitty korean grinders with no challenge started spamming the forum and crying that the game is too hard so the devs changed the game into total fucking casual garbage

The core game will give you like 200-300 hours of quests/dungeons/pvp, but after that you'll probably need to get the DLCs and shit.
The game is fine, it just has some significant annoyances related to grinds you may or may not want. I really don't feel like typing them all, but I'll sumarize them.

>Mount training gives 1 level a day, it takes 60 days yo get max speed, 60 days to get max boost, and 60 days to get maximum carrying capacity, thats 180 days for any of your characters to get the best horse, it's not shared, and you can pay $10 do get 10 levels of mount training
>Cosmetics are all behind the paywall, so don't think you can go hunting for fashion or cool mounts in game, it's all microtransactions
Pvp is solid, quests are whatever, dungeons are better than average but still kinda shit, and stupid hard in the really high levels (like you get 3 shotted from crap in the floor really fast).
I payed full price for it, and I'm not mad about it, but I really stopped playing when I realized all the new content is DLC and you'll be gated out of the highest progression if you don't buy it.

PSP is olev. Got so many games for it, and not just jrpgs either. Lately I've been digging the fuck out of the Brandish remake. It's the one "fill in the map squares" game I actually desire to do so.
