Go to "online - one player", go to "tournaments", go to "search by code", enter our main lobby code "4584-9410-2777", hit "join". If you keep getting put in empty lobbies, the current one is full. Keep hitting "join" periodically and eventually someone will leave & you'll get in
--Returning racers:
Go to "friends" from the online menu & view "recent players" list to find and join someone who is currently racing. You can't join somebody in a new lobby if you haven't first searched for the lobby code

Only thing close to this that I know of is project zomboid, and that's an isometric indie game
It's also the only game I know of that has zombie infection as a gameplay element, I guess because the mainstream audience wouldn't like waiting to die after getting hit once, but it's a feature I'd really like more games to at least try

Sure, queuing takes forever. Leavers are still everywhere. But this things will get sorted out in time.
But out of the games I have played, about half have been the best games of TF2 I have played in a long time - the reason I left in the first place was because I was running into more and more trouble finding servers where I could find quality matches.
Everyone playing the objective, sticking with the same players all the way through and knowing who they are - having that feeling of cooperation from beginning to end. PEOPLE ACTUALLY PLAYING CTF INSTEAD OF BASE TURTLE DEATHMATCH, WHAT THE HELL. The feeling that people won't just decide to conga midgame. Yeah, its one of the things I enjoy about TF2, but sometimes I just want to play the game.
And some of the other problems brought up... I don't think they are that huge... The apparent death of community servers is probably a side effect of everyone wanting to try out matchmaking, its logical that they are empty. I will be surprised if they still are two weeks from now. This is a huge improvement over the experience Valve servers ever provided.I think it would be good to have a quickplay button for community servers, though I still don't think bringing back Valves servers is necessary.
I think this is also good, Competitive mode gives Valve a game where balance matters a lot more and allow people to set up good matches without third party sites.
So who is upset about this? Of course, the friendly heavies, the redditors, the spycrabs and the furries. They are worried that people will actually give a shit an play the goddam game instead of paying attention and indulging in their antics.

Every game I've played has been terrible, it takes minutes for me to get a round (used to be able to jump in before the intro music was done), you can't even accurately select a map or fucking gamemode.
Game is dead until quickplay returns. It should be about fun, not cancerous GOTTA WIN AND INCREASE MY MMR Overwatch/LoL shit

They have several franchises that are legitimately fun, so I always at least consider them. Sometimes I wait until the prices come down. I don't throw my old consoles away. I still have my NES and cartridges. The NES is simple, it will probably work forever. The Wii-U, probably not so much. Wii-U was expensive, and I am not thrilled at the fact that the controller is a battery powered device with a screen, because that seems potentially hard to keep working in a permanent way. I don't know what to think about the NX. If I skip the NX, it probably will just be that I feel like I need to get my money out of the Wii-U that I have.
