Is Dark Souls 2 what Devil May Cry 2 is to its own series or not THAT bad?

No. Not even close. DaS2 does nothing as aggravating as DMC2.
If it had to be compared to a DMC, it'd be 1.
Different tone, at its core the same gameplay.
Damage is generally higher than in other entries.
Has a mildly annoying water level.
It wasn't that bad. DMC2 is a bad game by itself, and a horrible DMC game, DaS2 is a horrible souls game but an okay game by itself

RNG is there to punish spraying and create weapon balance, if RNG didn't exist you wouldn't need rifles for long distance engagements.
I'm not justifying RNG per se, but it does have its benefits to the metagame. The real problem is things like AK's first shot inaccuracy.
I have 2000 hours in this game so I know what I'm talking about.
