Literally the most disappointed I've been with a game. The open world shit was so fucking good and they let you tackle missions like you wanted to but god damn that lack of story.

I know the timeframe's wrong and it wouldn't really make any sense, but why didn't they just have Raiden? Instead of playing another new hitherto unmentioned clone of Big Boss that added nothing to the story, why wasn't the game just about Solidus?

Did you ever read gaming magazines, /v/? Were they better or worse than getting all of your reviews and first impressions online?
I had PSM, OPM, GamePro, EGM, DieHard GameFan, and Nintendo Power in my life at some point or another. I'd read and reread the shit out of them when bored. Vidya seemed like a much smaller thing then- you only got what they reported on so every game was something that might be groundbreaking and awesome.. The internet killed print, but I have fond memories of wasting afternoons rereading old mags and drawing the shit i found inside. I do think that what we have now is better in that it provides more viewpoints and options of how to consume them, but you have to spend more time looking at reviews overall to discern if it's good or not. You can't just trust Sushi-X, gotta see them videos and review aggregations.
I got games master, it was great for an idort and none of this biased console shit.

I just finished playing Remastered. I never got a Vita so I didn't have a chance to try the game out. I'm really glad I picked it up. I was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable the game was. The art direction and soundtrack were excellent and the overall atmosphere of the game was really relaxing.
Plus it has Kat. Anyone excited for Gravity Rush 2? Seems like we haven't heard much about it I hope it doesn't get cancelled. I honestly am surprised it took this long for a sequel to come out. I imagine the original game must have been a really great exclusive for the early Vita library.

Amateur indie dev here who wants to make a horror game and needs some guidance
How much content would you expect out of a horror game (length /replayability)? Do you think horror lends itself better to well crafted linear experiences or more procedural random settings?
I don't really like horror so I might not have the best feel for it, but I think for an indie horror game it can be around 10-20 hours. If it has high replayability it can be shorter, like 3 or 4. Personally I always prefer linear experiences as I think you get a tighter and better crafted experience that way. If you go with procedural I would recommend making it more of a creepy game than horror, something like LSD.
Please don't fall for the "hurr durr if you can't fight the monsters the game is scarier!!!"
There is no fun in a game that is literally hide and seek with an ai. Please have some actual gameplay if you are making a horror game for serious.
Depends on the style of game.
If it's open/exploration based and even randomized in a lot of events, then the gameplay can last quite a while and as long as there's enough variety of content it'll work out.
If it's a linear horror game, try not to keep it too long. 8-12 hours for a horror game seems about right. Anything drawing close to 20 ends up potentially losing your players.
