Say in the future, VR becomes advanced enough that all of your senses can be simulated when you're playing a game. Would you play a game that made you feel pain whenever your character got hurt? Not necessarily 1:1 pain, but strong enough that you would want to avoid it.
Seems like it would add some depth to a lot of games, since there'd be much more consequences to your actions.
It would be useful in simulations. A small sensation of firearm recoil, heat, etc.
It would be cool to have that feature, but it would never make it in mainstream games. Maybe your artsy-shmartsy games or some hardcore (indie) simulations like the guy above said. The thing with pain is that people don't like it. With regular games if you suck you have incentive to get good, and it has been noted that games are so addictive because they manage to get rid of the disincentive of failure. Games are crafted in a way that makes you want to play more even if you lose or make mistakes. If instead you felt pain every time you failed, the game world would lose its appeal and your brain would tell you to go back to the real world.
tl;dr some gimmick value, but not gonna work in mainstream

Is this honestly a good game? I never played it but I like the art and music.
Played it recently with some bros and it's still good but I didn't realize how the combat system heavily resembles what MMOs today would be like.
Cooldowns to get the strongest attacks along with charge ups for stronger attacks and magic for buffs / debuffs as well as offensive magic alongside position switching for tank, dps and heals.
The story is also pretty neato for what it is too.

Choosing sides at the end is awful, too. The whole Templars vs Mages thing was so forced. There could have easily been a peaceful solution even withe strained relationship the two factions had, but ONE OF YOUR FUCKING PARTY MEMBERS intentionally forces the entire situation with a terrorist attack.
Seriously, you'll miss out on nothing. I still want to give Origins a shot especially since I got it for free on PS+, but can't say i'm very eager to start any time soon.

nope just got to the start of chapter 3 and decided to take a break
playing as bolverk was way more fun than playing as alette because I tried to keep as many clansmen alive as I could and got absolutely shat on for it. The first game would occasionally stab you in the back for being kind hearted but it seems that this time around it is exclusively doing so.
So after getting mad at that it was pretty fun to play as the baddies for a while. Still though, I wish they had given us a dredge caravan.
Has anyone played with Rook yet? Alette is dealing with his death quite well but I'm guessing a Rook playthrough has him just devastated.
