you're dismembering the original doom. a lot of the rooms in the gameplay videos that were shown have a lot more enemies than the rooms in the original.

Only if luck is actually relevant, like in Fallout, 2 and NV. It often amounts to "+5% critical chance and slightly better loot" instead.
In Ragnarok Online, if your luck is high enough, it can actually help you evade attacks, along with getting crits, it's really useful.

What went wrong /v/? The game had a lot of promise.
The game was great until about 8 months ago give or take.
Dev team can't decide what to focus on. Lots of shitters on the team too. They flouted their two shitty PvP leagues since the expac but the class balance is shit and everybody knows it (seriously the first league launched before the expac could even settle its feet). WvW is gutted with the new BL having alot of no-fun and nobody has interest in running it. Heart of Thorns was half-baked with 1/10th the story content as base, launching without a lot of promised stuff, and some pretty terribru reward systems that emphasized grinding like a cheap korean MMO.

It's a dying art, sadly. Last one I can recall is Xenoblade X, and the mechs were more akin to glorified accessories. They weren't even that important to the game.
It sickened me on a personal level that you have to go hours without them when you first start it.
Armored Core are all classified as JRPGs
