What's the fucking point of consoles if they don't have exclusives? The only one with exclusives these days is Nintendo, and they're not that impressive. What happened to the days of SNES and Genesis where there were fucktons of exclusives on each console?

Those days were different. All the platforms were radically different, and you had to pretty much rewrite a game from scratch if you wanted to port your games. And this is why, sometimes, a port of a game was *completely* different between the SNES and Genesis - because if you're writing a game from scratch, with a completely different team, you might as well do something different.
These days, consoles are basically PCs. Same code runs everywhere. And for developers, it doesn't make much sense to tie yourself to a platform, when you can easily target other ones without too much effort (at least compared to the earlier console days).

Everything you've heard about the gameplay is true. The combat is just easy enough that you can treat it as a cinematic that you partially direct, so you can still have fun looking cool and immersing yourself in it that way. Play for the immersion and production value, because it just doesn't have Soulsborne depth or challenge.
