I think SP content is an excellent way to please casual fans without dumbing the game down for multiplayer. It gives them a body bag to punch and feel good about while also keeping the game commercially viable. I used to think same as you but I realize now SP content is needed so the game can be kept fairly deep for multiplayer.

The backers are clearly happy with how the game is shaping up.
Your first image is a prime example.
They gave us four choices, saw the response as overwhelmingly in favor of one, and worked to make it look even more in the style that everyone wanted in the first place.

It's worth $60 in my opinion. I'm the type of person that doesn't really care for linear games and just wa at to push through the gameplay to advance the plot. This game made me slow down and really experience the game as I played it. The story is amazing from start till finish, but the last hour especially will make you realize exactly why so many people praise this games story.
