I've never really played a turn based RPG before
What's one that's:

you can't go wrong with Paper Mario, Mario and Luigi or Super Mario RPG
There's also Dragon Quest, which excels on world building but I would only recommend it once you've acquired a taste for Turn based RPGs

Modern day VR is like motion control games from the 90s and the 00s before the Wii and PS Move came out. It's a clunky gimmick that won't see widespread use in an effective manner for years.

The camera is fucked up and the combat seems way slower.
Other than that, it should be bretty gud. GoW games are usually good for a playthrough of button mashing god killing madness.
