I get the appeal but personally I'd like to see them do a modern San Fierro. It might also not help that I never played vice city and don't care for 80s stuff. It might be cool to see a completely new location in a new time period like the 60s or 70s though.

It's not going to flop, financially at least.
They're going to sell more than enough copies to cover development costs and if it's bad people will lose interest in 3-4weeks. Then they might release some "big special amazing lots of content" update in 7 months that spikes the playerbase for 2 weeks then it'll drop again.

Started playing this for the first time since it was on sale and became backwards compatible. Holy shit it was/is amazing, pure kino, can't believe I didn't play it at launch.
Anyone else played it first time recently, or played any older game at all for the first time? How was it? Graphics are fantastic for the time, framerate was improved apparently, which is a nice first impression, and everything else is also great.
