Is FF3 secretly the best Final Fantasy?

5 has a job system and characters that beat the shit out of 3.

The devs had never made a fighting game. The character designs were done by the Death Note artist.
At least it had really awesome music.
Horrible redesigns and on the Wii instead of the Xbox 360 or PS3.
This game would have done well if it was on the PS3, same with MadWorld.

How come military men are the choice in most of the times of a protagonist? Can you identify with them? Or is it a poor excuse for the fighting part of the game that follows due to their experience?
I personally empathized with the plain characters of Silent Hill 1 to 4.
