Your friend is right. It's not the x360 generation anymore except for nintenkiddies. PS4 does 1080p. PS4 Neo does 4K. The gap is marginal. Games are downgraded to look the same on PC as console.
Have them play unmodded Dark Souls 1. Then have them play Dark Souls 1 with a properly configed DsFix.
Graphics are pointless. PC has a larger library and better controls for most game genres
