The characters were total shit, they weren't even remotely likeable either. The story suffered from this.
The game ran at a silky smooth 20 fps at the absolute most.

The game itself was good but it had plenty of flaws. I know you're baiting OP, but there's a lot of people out there who believe this so I wanted to ge tit off my chest.
One of my favorites but I don't think it has much in terms of replay value.

I've bought nothing. It's been a fairly shitty sale.
Just check out the Dead Island Franchise advertised on front page. It says 15%-80% off, but if you click on it only Escape Dead Island (shitty flash game) is on sale for 80%, rest are all a measly 15%. Not only that, but they completely removed the original Dead Islands from Steam so now you can ONLY buy the Definitive editions. Glad I managed to snag the old ones from humble.

How are they so good at convincing plebs that they're big fans of games they never gave a fuckin shit about? How do they keep getting away with it? First they make Fallout into a bastardized Elder Scrolls, then they make Doom into a cheap Serious Sam knock off, now they're turning Quake into Overwatch.

just pick up dark souls if you want to properly roleplay is a masterful shinto priest who does amazing 10/10 combat

Thoughts on Unreal 2?
It's really bad. The movement is slow, the enemies are bullet sponges, and the level design is frustrating. That character and the final level are really the only two highlights of the game.
Interesting, but not as good as the first game. The way the game escalated was weird as fuck at the time

It's a fun game. I don't regret my purchase. There is a hint of a decent game in there somewhere.
But it could have done SO much better being delayed by about 6 months to fix fundamental things. Gearbox just clearly was not prepared to run a MOBA style team game.

>PVP doesn't drop gear, only PVE does
>Not able to queue for individual story missions
>Lore challenges extremely grindy and anti-fun
>Lack of a proper tutorial
And that's just a few.
The art style is also just poor. Some decent character designs, but the art style looks like a free to play game. It looks cheap.
I like the game. I probably will never play it again, but a 6 month delay with some polishing would have done this game MANY favors. And it wouldn't have to compete with Overwatch. Which I also enjoy.

I agree wholeheartedly with the first two points. But some of the character designs are pretty good. SOME of them.
Overwatch was a huge competitor and trying to go head to head with Blizzard ended them.
