I don't get it. What's the point in partially voicing a VN? Either you do it or you don't.

Not really, she did get paired with Juli in fanart some times, but it was just because they were the sub bosses you had to fight at the same time and maybe because they could charge their power by holding hands, pic related

I don't blame y'all for wanting to pirate shit if you're poor, but have some patience. You can't buy stuff, so you need other people to buy lots of it to subsidize your playing it free. Therefore it's better for you AND the publisher if they get a bunch of sales in first before the rips hit.

I own Dark Souls 1/2, CS:GO, BoI, and a couple of other games, but I pirated them first because I had no money, and then bought them when they were on sale, because I still didn't have enough money for full price. Kindred won't go on sale.

It's not really clear, some places say that she was just a girl from his tribe, other say that she is his wife

Maybe things just got confused, since it is canon that he has a wife and that he was looking for "Julia" both in Alpha 3 and SF2, some people could've just assumed she was his wife

Is it really such a surprise when typically games are cracked/hacked/torrented 1-2 days after they're released and Kindred still hasn't been torrented 6 days after it's been out and people are crying for a release?
>>1987000
And the problem with the buying and stuff as well on MG's site.
>>
>>1986937
>Better partial voiced than not at all.
Not really. It's easier to get used to one style; constantly changing between the two of them is annoying and it only amplifies the lack of voicing in scenes that aren't, well, voiced.

>Eroge such as Kindred Spirits?
Yes, if an eroge such as Kindred Spirits only had H-scenes voiced, nobody would've noticed. But it had other, non-H scenes voiced, for a reason I can't quite comprehend.
Although I'm not sure if I would call a game where you can safely censor all H-scenes and still enjoy it an "eroge". It's like calling FSN an eroge.
>>
>>1986892
>Kindred Spirits is out, why aren't you playing it?
Becaus the price is outrageous.
>>
>>1987027
30-45 USD is normal for a full length visual novel.
>>
>>1987029
Not that anon, but that is a bit steep for my taste. I'll wait for a sale.
>>
>>1987021
You can generally turn the voices off, so people with your preference are still catered to. You're mistaken if you think it's a stance that everyone shares.

>Although I'm not sure if I would call a game where you can safely censor all H-scenes and still enjoy it an "eroge". It's like calling FSN an eroge.
It would be flat wrong to say F/SN wasn't an eroge.

If it's 18+ rated in Japan for sexual content it's an eroge.
>>
> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBRzdVIlTs8

Is this out? I cannot tell if the date is for the preview or the release.
>>
>>1987038
It's out
>>
>>1987037
"Eroge" literally translates to "porn game". As in, the game where porn is the major focus. A game that has two sex scenes on 20+ hours a story is not a porn game, just like a movie that contains sex scenes isn't a porn movie unless it contains nothing but sex scenes.
While FSN is technically categorized as an eroge, I wouldn't call it that because see the above. Just like any other Japanese game where sex isn't the focus of the story.
>>
>>1987049
Eroge does not mean that the sexual content is the major focus. Just drop that misconception of yours.
>>
>>1987049
I think you're confusing the term "eroge"(game containing sex scenes) with "nukige"(game whose content is almost exclusively sex).
>>
>>1987052
I will when eroge stops being an umbrella term for everything including >>1987053
>>
>>1987049
The word you are looking for is Nukige.

Eroge = VN with H scenes.
Nukige = VN where the focus is porn.

Yeah, it is annoying that people call both of those eroge, and it also can make it harder to explain why you like something that is an eroge when everyone goes eroge = porn game, but not much you can do about that.
>>
>>1987049
>>1987054
>the game where porn is the major focus
That's a nukige, eroge just means any game with ero scenes.
>>
>>1987054
What? Are you saying because nukige are a subset of eroge you're going to carry on thinking they're synonyms?
>>
>>1987029
>>1987033
I am that anon, and that's too high for me too for a game that's about reading text with some nice art thrown on. I'll wait for a proper sale too. I have the patience of fucking Buddha when it comes to games.
>>
>>1987054
All nukige are eroge, but not all eroge are nukige.
>>
Hmm now that we're on that topic. Are there actually decent yuri nukige?
>>
>>1987065
SonoHana if you're into their stuff?
>>
>>1987065
Sono hana
>>
>>1987059
No, because nukige is a niche term that not a lot of people know, they use "eroge" to describe every game that contains sex scenes, ranging from FSN's ratio of porn to story to... well, I don't know any popular nukiges, so let it be SonoHana's. And so differentiating between "that porn game" and "that game that has porn but isn't a porn game" is difficult. That's why I'm going to carry on using a different term to describe games that weren't made for masturbating because I don't want to explain a difference between "eroge" and "nukige" for every person who isn't familiar with their definitions.
>>
>>1987065
I think the first few SonoHana games especially can be considered nukige. I heard Sacrament Sheep also has many sex scenes but I haven't played it yet.
>>
>>1987065
Shojokyuu is close enough to a nukige and pretty good

Yuri no Hana series is good for variety of kinks
>>
>>1987069
It's easier to just say the game isn't sex-focused. Telling people the scenes are tame, few, and far between makes them get the idea.

>>1987068
>>1987071
>SonoHana
OK let's all assume I've played them to death.
>>
>>1987069
If you don't want to use "eroge", then don't. But don't use it differently to what it actually means, or misunderstand it or disagree when other people it correctly.

>>
>>1987084

Of course if older ones count I'd say the X-Change series, pretty much anything by ZyX too
>>
>>1987071
Sacrament Sheep has 4 sex scenes; it's a pretty short game.
>>
>>1987080
It's not grammar, it just makes you look like you don't know what you're talking about.
>>
>>1987080
You don't want to stop and explain that 'eroge' and 'nukige' mean different things to people outside this thread, so instead you want to stop and force us to have long conversations in this thread about how 'eroge' and 'eroge' mean different things depending on which anon is saying them? Can't we waste our time sighing over girls instead?

https://vndb.org/v/all?q=&fil=tag_inc-82~214.tagspoil-0&rfil=

Here is a link showing everything tagged with both "Nukige" and "Yuri" on vndb.

You can sort by rating, popularity, or score.

Notably however that link does not exclude anything. So things like Futa are there. You can add filters that exclude tags or list only certain languages very easily if you wish.

Note that for whatever reason if you want to do a search with multiple tag filters you have to do it from the Visual Novel link on the left. I do not know why this is.

It seems your choices when it comes to 100% yuri nukige in english are:

Sono Hanabira
Sugar's Delight
Some Ninja Rape Game

We all know Sono Hanabira and I can personally confirm Sugar's Delight is pure yuri. The ninja rape thing has a single het tag but that is probably only due to a female version of that tag not existing. Either way I don't intend to confirm.

Tattoos are kind of seen as a mafia sort of thing in japan, and that combined with how a lot of yuri leans on cute and fluffy with young lovers it makes it rare for us to see such characters.

Yakuza yuri is something I want now, somehow. Or maybe just a delinquent character in a yuri romance. Fat chance of finding that.

Apparently many hotels and public baths in japan do not allow tourists with ink to bathe in them at all, which makes me wonder if they turn away even people who have things like unicorns on their butts like someone I actually know.

I would say those two are probably mid-twenty, so some tats seem to make sense. And I think anyone worth their salt in Japan can differentiate between tribal style tats and Yazuka tats (which are a lot more elaborate)

Nah, that was back then. Nowadays they consider the rather long and rather painful commitment abit too much to bear, and get smaller, more discreet and normal tattoos.

I strongly suggest to purchase it on steam, especially because of the recent issue with mangagamer and illegal steam keys being sold on other websites. You can still check on isthereanydeal.com, but I think that 15% is all you're getting for now, at least on "trusted" websites.

Is that even legal? And anyway, since you don't support the publishers by purchasing it like this, you might as well just pirate it.
>>

>Is that even legal?

I have no idea whether selling the Steam key for a purchase you bought legally and just playing the version downloaded from the site is legal. It's certainly more legal than outright stealing it, though.

>And anyway, since you don't support the publishers by purchasing it like this, you might as well just pirate it.

Not necessarily. If someone legally bought the game (getting a DRM-free version and a key) and sells you the key, it can be seen as the two of you pitching in together to buy the game which the first customer couldn't quite afford on her own.

Certainly less good for the publisher than you buying two copies, but better than you buying zero.

However, buying a stolen copy is shit for absolutely everyone.
>>
>>1987824
I was talking in general, but since you have to buy it it would be better to spend a few bucks more to get a legal key rather than risk with something sold by a 3rd party seller, since you can never know where they really get them from, and you could even get your game deactivated.

>>1987828
I understand what you're trying to say. I suppose that if mangagamer allows you to do such a thing then you can do it if you trust the other person, although I don't know if this is even possible. It probably isn't, though.

They're like $2. Buy them or play free games instead.

>>1988112
Is this definitely girls-only? (So the VNDB tags can be set)

>>1988163
I've been trying to figure out what's up with that game. Are both protagonists female or only one? If only one is, and all the monsters are female, then it would be half yuri at least. If they both are, then 'centric' suggests that either there are male monsters or there are tentacle monsters and they know some people don't dig that, I guess.
>>
>>1988162
I wonder how "centric" though. And they haven't posted any news about ch2 of the other yuri VN, right?
>>
>>1988143
I think the CG quality looks easily above average for yurige. Not as good as Flowers, but comparable to HakuAi.
>>
>>1988171
>If they both are, then 'centric' suggests that either there are male monsters or there are tentacle monsters

Yeah, it's pretty much the biggest warning sign of exactly that.
>>
>>1988171
Sakura Fantasy had one or two pretty tentacle moments, though like most things in Sakura Fantasy it did not go anywhere.

The first tentacle thing was vines, in front of another girl. I found it tolerable, but your mileage may vary and all.

There was the villain looking lady with purple tentacles, but I can't remember if anything actually happened with her.

There was also a slime dissolving the protag's clothing/armor, but again in front of other girls (sort of, they only noticed afterwards).

Sakura Fantasy was really weird/annoying in that it had a shitload of moments that were... well, just fanservice and nothing else. Like they kept leading up to something really erotic and then stopping before anything actually happened. Chocolate bath had so much potential.
>>
>>1988112
Art is a bit too shoujo manga for my tastes, but I can live with that.

(Not that it matters, it's never getting translated)
>>
>>1988172
> And they haven't posted any news about ch2 of the other yuri VN, right?
Actually they did month after it was released
Wasn't sold as they expected so ch.2 is on the unhold now(more likely canceled)
>>
>>1988163
>>1988172

far as centric goes it is a mistake to ever expect romance from any sakura ___, but sakura fantasy was inoffensive aside from the few who cry about the tentacle scene in the optional patch. nothing sleazy like aj tilley/dharker beach bounce where the lesbian character lusts the mc dick and straightens out.

i do like that the titles WC put more effort into are yuri.
>>
>>1988181
Did they explicitly say that SF didn't sell as expected and therefore they put it on hold?
>>
>>1988185
The only thing I remember them explicitly saying is that they had no idea where the plot was going and therefore hadn't written a second chapter because they didn't know what to do with it. Assuming the person who said that was really who he claimed ot be.
>>
>>1988187
I've checked on steamspy and it looks like they removed the sales data of SF, therefore it's not possible to check anymore how much it sold. I still remember it selling decently, more than Sakura Santa or Sakura Beach, so I believe that the true reason is probably because they really don't know how to progress the story.
>>
>>1988185
I can't imagine any of their stuff can be selling much better, now that they're churning shit out constantly. Surely any novelty appeal the first game or two had is gone by now.
>>
>>1988189
They're still getting more than 10k/mo on patreon.
>>
>>1988190
But Patreon is hardly dependent on what kinda game they make, especially when they're releasing so fast that someone not liking their yuri game won't bother revoking their pledge since the next het one will be around in a month anyway.

Also, them getting that much for the blandest ecchi shit is pretty depressing.
>>
>>1988188
At the time though, it likely would've seemed like a sales decline compared to their other games. Of course, their sales have been steadily dropping for all of the games they release, so I doubt it was Fantasy in particular that caused it.
>>
>>1988173
Overall, I doubt that it would reach the standard of Flowers or HakuAi though. I would certainly love to be wrong, but the development hell it was stuck in doesn't give me confidence.
>>
Making my own vn right now. Legitimate and really weird question: would any of you care if I commissioned vaporwave artists to make the game's bgm? Like, stuff by Apartment and x Future Girlfriend. Yeah it started as a meme but there are some legitimately cool fucking groups now.
>>
>>1988234

At least HakuAi was not a budget title, right? Dunno about flowers. But this new game is a budget title. 4800 yen for DL, 5400 yen for package. (LE more expensive)

That said, it obviously means that it'll lack something. Maybe it's short. Maybe it's not voiced (or barely voiced). Maybe the art is low budget with few CG. Or, a combination of all of that.
>>
>>1988243
Flowers installments are released at 4800 for LE packaged.

Seems safe to assume Tsui Yuri is not a large game. Not just the pricing but the number of characters.
>>
>>1988243
>>1988252
Yes, that's considered budget pricing for PC games, especially adult PC games. Even Yurirei commanded the price of 8,800 yen without tax, a rather common price point for PC games in Japan. It wasn't fully voiced, reused some voice actresses but had quite a bit of content.

Both HakuAi and Flowers were fully voiced, with a few well known seiyuu to boot. Tamura Yukari in HakuAi, Nazuka Kaori in Flowers to name a few.

Flowers is actually priced cheaper than most (5,184 yen for packaged, no LE), but their reasoning was that it was the company's first foray into Yuri and they wanted to make it easier for their existing fans, who most likely have never played a Yuri VN before, to jump in.

HakuAi's vita version has a rather standard price of 6,264 yen. Vita game prices vary but big budget games like DQ Builders can carry this price tag.The PC packaged version carries the full price of 8,800 yen.

Length wise, HakuAi has 4 proper routes. Flowers can be considered one route with some side content. Tsui yuri should have one route? At the very least, I doubt it will have much branching.

Not on Nyaa or Animebytes, and the BGM file is a .xfl.

Despite using the same 10 or so songs for the whole game, I never really got tired of the ost. That 'do do do dododo wah~~' one is especially catchy. Only time I felt annoyed was when they played that sad guitar song for like the entire month.

Though I just beat the main story and I'm about to do the supposedly long postgame stories. Do they unlock as you view them, because I went back and picked all the different choices but I only have 20 or so events unlock in just two months.

This is how I feel pretty much. I would say the weakest point of the game for me so far would be the small number of BGMs, but somehow after 15 hours they have not gotten old to me yet. I still find myself constantly tapping along on my keyboard to several of them.

I can already tell a few of these are going to be stuck in my head for weeks, and almost certainly will resurface every few months. I'll be in my 60s and still going 'GOOO STEADY GOOOOO, IT'S UP TO YOOOU' probably.

Also if you go into the in game music player you can set which song plays at the calender screen. Just mark it with the key button.

>>1988459
>it's not copyright infringement to remove it if you already bought game anyway
Pretty sure the laws of some first world shitholes think the opposite.
>>
>>1988456
It is still an issue because if Steam decides that you are a Bad Person for some reason (like using too many hacks on multiplayer games, I don't know) they can decide to disable all your games.

I prefer to buy the games from MangaGamer before installing on Steam so I have backup. The new mess makes that more of a pain, alas.
>>
>>1988463
Depends on the country. I think some are leaning in the direction of "yes you can rip it if you bought it as long as you don't give it away"

>if this keeps up in 2050 the Internet will be an absolute shithole worse than real life if it's still alive
You're probably right. Sony has been trying to sell to people the rental streams of their old games instead of backwards compatibility for some time now. Now that's a truly scary system with little to no freedoms and ownership.
>>
So apparently Winged Cloud, the creator of the Sakura games broke up with Mangagamer over "creative differences" and went back to Sekai Project. Interestingly enough, they used the same reasoning for leaving Sekai Project for Mangagamer in the first place. I'm curious what all the behind-the-scenes drama is

Money.
>>
>>1988460
>The main problem with Steam dying would be games that use online multiplayer will be rendered useless

That'll happen either way. And companies like EA are dropping online games much, much quicker, for example.
>>
>>1988473
Crackers won't always keep up with cracking the lastest DRM. For example, the ultimate form of DRM is, probably because I've yet to see worse, hardware-level DRM. It is extremely complicated to hack a DRM of that level, it takes years to develop and it's not very safe to perform. The upside is that hardware-level DRM can't be patched as software-level DRM gets patched, but as I said it's a pain in the ass to crack, and that's probably where the future goes, hardware-level DRM+software-level DRM. At least 2 years until crackers and hackers figure a way to make ilegal copies of software run on your computer.
>>
>>1988474
The conclusion by most people is that they're complete dicks to work with who keep expecting special treatment while refusing to do any work on their part.

Also, with mangagamer's payment system down, they were probably in a hurry to jump ship somewhere else.
>>
>>1988460
If steam dies the online multiplayer for games from 2000-2020 will almost certainly be very very dead. Or we will be dead.

When/If steam dies it will be a slow death that you will probably be able to see from at least five or ten years off when some other method of buying (or not buying) games competes with it and begins to succeed somehow. Nothing to worry about for a long time.

Of course if you consider the lightweight DRM steam has on some things to be too much or just don't have/want to pay money for things you can just continue pirating, as long as the things you are interested in are DRM free or crackable (which VNs will most likely continue to be at least) and don't mind waiting to get your hands on things that are niche. Well, I guess there also has to be enough support for the things you like to be made and/or translated in the first place too, which is a little relevant here with our niche within a niche thing.
