Does anyone else think that GoT doesn't feel very "Game of Thrones-y" lately? Especially the season finale, it didn't feel like a GoT episode at all. And the soundtrack at the beginning didn't feel right at all. There's just something about the show now that's different\off about it, and I can't seem to put my finger on what it is.
Shame, really. I happily replay and rewatch most episodes through season 1 to 3, but I rarely, if ever, rewatch episodes in the seasons afterwards. Example being GoT S6. I haven't rewatched a single episode. Anyone else feel this way?

if you'll notice, in the show this season there also wasn't much shown of Cersei's descent into madness. the king's landing scenes focused mostly on marge, tommen, and the faith, while Cersei sat in the background brooding in her defeat. in the show, we've yet to really see all the terrible, narcissistic decisions she makes regarding the kingdom's economy and its political standing with others.
i imagine Jaimie's epiphany and Cersei's descent will be the focal arc of the king's landing scenes henceforth, probably ending with him killing her to save the kingdom from yet another mad ruler, just as he did with Aegon (pottery!).
there's also an extra complication, i think, in the sequence by which Jaimie's epiphany occurs in the books. he sees her doing insane shit, then he goes on his adventures, meets people who aren't crazy, and comes to realise that there are others ways to be. in the books this sort of sequence is fine because we have access to his thoughts; even though she's not physically present for comparison, she is always present in his mind. in the show, however, you can't see what he's thinking, and as such it's probably easier to demonstrate this shift by reversing the sequence, having him meet the decent people first and then having him realise she's insane while he's right beside her.

There is a very simple reason for that. Some of the people in the bar sympathize with Cersei because she's a woman. They do not understand that the reason King's Landing went to shit was because of Cersei in the first place. She gave the High Sparrow the power he needed and when it backfired on her some showfags acted like her walk of atonement was some sort of crime against humanity because that poor innocent woman had to walk through the streets naked all on her own :(

The fact that Jon will lead forces is actually a whole OTHER reason Sansa’s more fit for the throne than him. The last time a king in the North went off to war while leaving behind no official ruler in charge of Winterfell, Winterfell was sacked. Jon’s VERY likely to die, and if he dies, there is likely to be a major succession crisis. What the North needs is a ruler who will remain at the royal seat, take care of the people during the war and winter, conduct the affairs of state, and have a strong GENERAL to lead their armies while they remain behind. Especially for a royal House like the Starks, who have very few established, viable heirs available. The royal line has to be preserved. And a king with a VERY shaky claim, without any solid heir (ie, a child born within wedlock), going off to a war which will almost certainly kill him basically sets fire to any chance of stability the North might have.
