The worst part is there isn't even any good footage of him from the last episode. Outside of breaking down the gate he didn't do anything worthy and even that was pretty lackluster.
Is it just me or is the show starting to feel casualized to appeal to a lowest-common-denominator crowd? The plots have become linear and streamlined, dropping the development of any and all minor characters. The morality has become black and white, hero versus villain, to the point of saturation. I haven't felt morally conflicted a single time this season. Nobody is neutral anymore, the heroes are all merciful and the villains are all needlessly cruel. Feels like a fucking Disney Channel sitcom sometimes, especially with all the plot-convenient near deaths of beloved characters. Is there any truth in this, or am I just viewing earlier seasons with rose-tinted glasses?

Well if we're talking about storylines and characters, we can talk about those too. The one everyone knows is the War of the Five King's comparison to the War of the Roses. We can equate the Starks to the House of York, Lannisters to Lancaster, and Tudors to the Tyrell's. Look that up if you're more interested about the similarities.
Then we have the Red Wedding and its similarities to the Glencoe Massacre, and its name drawing inspiration from the Black Dinner. We can draw comparisons between Aegon the Conqueror and Alexander the Great and god knows who else. If I knew more about history I could probably give you a pretty reasonable comparison for just about every major character in GoT 2bh. Part of that is because it's so easy to compare people in fiction to people that actually lived. There are probably some interesting obvious cases with characters like Rhaegar, Mance, Cersei, Aerys, and tons of others, if you look hard enough. Off the top of my head Davos sort of reminds me of El Cid. But that's because, again, it's very easy to draw these kinds of comparisons between fictional characters and real people based on the vaguest of criteria.

He had no formal training with a sword. Roose describes Ramsay as wielding as sword like a butcher wields a cleaver when chopping meat.
Book Ramsay is certainly very clever. He does ambush and annihilate a much larger Northern force by approaching as an ally and then unleashing his men during the parlay with the other northern leaders.
