I personally think this was close to one of the best battles ever in TV or Film, and I consider myself a lover of anything that has massive army's and battles in it. Now I'm not saying this was better than say, Saving private Ryan but you can't compare the two. Nobody said it was outright better unless you actually take the opinions of those idiots in those screenshots from reddit seriously. It's too obvious that those people's opinions are skewed and can't look at the two objectively, probably having not seen the LOTR battles in years and being encouraged to voice stupid opinions by equally stupid people that can't really be taken seriously.
It's hard to take you seriously either if you insist that this wasn't at the very least in the same league as Helm's Deep or Minas Tirith through the sheer emotional impact it had on its viewers, if not for the quality of originality in its writing. The actual battle sequences themselves are hard to compare because they both try to accomplish something that is pretty different, and there's not a whole lot to suggest that either is flat out better than the other except for scale which is understandable in GOT's case since it's not a movie but just a tv show. In that respect GOT comes nowhere close, obviously, despite obviously dumping a humongous portion of its budget and resources into the episode.

Oh of course there was a lot of emotion in those battles, I wouldn't say that it was conclusively and definitively better than this episode. You have to remember that for most people there's been not only the 9 weeks of buildup and suspense over this single episode, but it finally offers closure and a conclusion to several seasons worth of it. I also wouldn't say that the episode is better, or even necessarily equal, but it IS comparable, even with having a fraction of its budget and having a couple of dumbies at the helm of making the thing.
Also, I was saying that there wasn't a whole lot of originality in the episode, a lot of it was obviously repurposed from other memorable and influential scenes from great movies and such. It still works though, and it's akin to an artist taking someone else's work and putting a unique spin on it or offering a new perspective. In fact part of the reason this episode was so good was because it borrowed heavily from other works that were clearly superior to the steaming pile of shit the show has been lately.

Everybody is complaining about the logistics/tactics of the battle, meanwhile I'm here trying to understand how exactly that was a 3k v 6k battle. It looked pretty much even through out, right up until the Bolton's encircle everyone. So my question is - where was Ramsey's phantom-half of the army?
Before the battle starts it looks like Ramsey has more, but then by the time he encircles Jon's forces, it looks like the same amount. Even with Ramsey's friendly fire, there should have been way more men on the Bolton side when the encirclement happened.
