First off, Westeros doesn't have instant communication. So she didn't know if Littlefinger was going to get there or not until he was already there.
Secondly, if she had told Jon "Hey I might have more people if you just wait" then Jon would've likely waited. If the Vale had gotten there then Ramsay would've seen the larger army and stayed inside Winterfell and the siege would've lasted into Winter to inevitable failure.
I think that Sansa made a wise choice with the options she had.

That would have been actually cool and unpredictable though, and we can't have that. The writers seem to be convinced that the show NEEDS 100% edginess at all times, unless it's Tyrion quipping or some woman gets the opportunity to show up the stupid menfolk. A complete blunder like Jon charging and the entire army getting predictably butchered is just what was called for.
I think the worst thing though (aside from Sansa not telling anyone about the reinforcements) was when the Bolton/Karstak shield wall just kinda ran up and surrounded Jon's army without running into any opposition. Hilarious how they had Davos conveniently charge in with his archers just in time so the shield wall wouldn't get outflanked. Oh, and Wun Wun obviously didn't grab a random tree or something to use as a weapon, never mind his fucking bow.

I only liked season 1 of HoC, but GoT has sucked major balls ever since season 4. I can only imagine how great this show still seems to normies. There are good lines once and a while, but the show suffers from being too long, having too many characters and D&D being God awful writers. The book's story suffers too, but at least the characters seem real and get great attention instead of 5 min max each episode, if anything at all.

I don't hate GoT, it just gets way too much praise becuase yes, some seasons were amazing, but the show has lost so much focus that as a whole, it's not phenomenal. The show can't support the characters with their time and writing and it kills it for me. General problem is that show doesn't represent the books well, the message is not transferred well, in the show its all about "Who is the badass" but in the books GRRM tries to shame that kind of behaviour and show you how violence is not only way and show you paralels how people who ruled with "iron fist ended up like, he doesnt rely on brute violence as only method to tell the story, show emphesise it to the ridiculous point it revolves around it "No guts no glory" thats why normies are so glued to the chair, especially with this "Girl power" meme we got shoved up our throats lately, in book its way too subtle, because there are so much more male characters they scraped them in the show so you think its all around strong womyns etc. Switch to books bro, trust me.
