I'm really trying to think about how they could meet, why, what the circumstances and context of their meeting will be, and what it will result in. So many puzzling questions considering how far apart these two are right now and everything that has happened in these last few episodes with Hardhome, Jon's death, Jon's resurrection, the upcoming Bastardbowl, winter, etc.
And I think this definitely means something significant. This scene never happens in the books. Melisandre never meets Arya, Thoros or Beric. She never learns of Beric being brought back to life or anything. That entire scene and that entire quote were both creations of the show, so I doubt they would go out of their way to write and film this scene and have this exchange between Mel and Arya without having a long-term goal or plan in mind with regard to these two characters.

The shit tier writing is affecting my view of the characters, the only ones I care about now are the ones whose stories were more or less handled okayishly, which at the moment are Cersei, Qyburn, Meera, Varys, Sandor, and the BWB. It's not good writing though. It's basically breaking the 'show, don't tell' rule. Instead of showing Arya defeat her nemesis and overcome her difficulties, they instead just tell us she did. Did Arya really hide her sword and have this rivalry with the Waif for almost two seasons just for us to be told about how she overcame the challenge? The whole plotline had such an underwhelming payoff.

D&D have repeatedly made the excuse that they don't have enough time or money to fully realize ASOIAF. So what do they do?
