On a more personal level for the lead, I took the series as commentary on how America treats their soldiers. As Cap embraces his role as THE American soldier, he gets more and more isolated.
Granted treatment of returning veterans is much better than what it was after Vietnam but there is still plenty of problems the government has when it comes to helping combat vets reintegrate back into society or getting help from the government in their lives even outside of mental health
