yeah, the film doesn't give you a reason to care about any of the characters until 40 minutes in, and then it feels totally incongruous with the rest of what you've been watching. i think stealing that couple's baby was the point at which i realized i actively disliked them. at the ending i really wanted Victoria to be immediately arrested when she left the hotel. not that that would've really made the movie any better, but at least i'd feel vindicated.
