Thats my point though, there are important parts in the books that they have in the show that would need to be completely changed if you removed them, and we all know how well D&D fare when changing what happened. Just off the top of my head you'd have to change the whole Arya/Sansa/Joffrey/Butcher's boy part in season one, all the war stuff with Grey Wind and the part where they sew his head onto Robb's body, change the part where Bran is almost assassinated and Cat tries to save him, change like a dozen different times Ghost saved Jon or heavily influenced the North plotline, change all of the stuff with Bran warging into summer.
