The castle looks way too built up for my taste. I always imagined it as a moderate ancient castle built on a flat piece of mountain, with earth shipped up to cover the bare rock. Not a huge domed-church-looking thing masterfully built between two mountains.

Roose Bolton is one of my favorite characters in the books and in the show. Roose actually gets more screentime in the show than he gets facetime in the books. He's a cold, calculating figure who is portrayed with dignity and terrifying precision by Michael McElhatton--a person, who aside from his piercing baby blues, does not at all resemble the Roose described in the books.
If adapting thousands of pages of fantasy, including dozens of recurring characters, into an award winning show with only roughly 10 hours of screen time per book, is a demonstration of laziness or careless trolling to you--just imagine what putting together this shitty graphic must appear to be to everyone else.
Seriously people, the books and the show are separate entities. The show makes missteps and occasionally screws up, but television is a different medium which has its own limitations and differing priorities. If you want to compare, do it thoughtfully with that in mind. If you don't like the show, stop watching it.
I understand it's a joke, but the criticism of the writing is another example of book readers' condescension and inability to separate the show from the books. This isn't the first graphic of this format to appear in /got/ generals, and I've never guffawed at any of them.
I said what I did because I think the criticism that characters in the books are more fleshed out is lazy and toxic. There are plenty of characters whose journeys and scenes are better in the show than in the books (Osha, Bronn, Margaery, debatably Theon), and this is usually due to the differing priorities of the medium of television and the great casting.
I stand by what I said. It may be a joke, but it's not funny. It's also lazy, dumb criticism which has been done to death by condescending book readers.

In the books each stage up the mountain is extremely vulnerable to the next stage, due to the road looping and shit. So once you've taken the first gate it doesn't really offer you anything, since they can just keep raining rocks and arrows down on you from up top and retake the gate once you've been beaten back.
It IS impregnable by anyone who isn't a targ with a dragon. It's the ultimate castle, because with other castles your enemy might be able to storm you. They can't with the Eyrie. They HAVE to starve you out. Which means they have to have enough food with them to wait you out, since you'll have burnt all your own fields.
