Season 1 was very faithful and the scenes they added felt meaningful and in-character.
Then they started doing their own thing. Some minor changes here and there. Some necessary for it being a TV show, others just because they could. Then the changes became more and more significant. D&D said from the start that they imagined the show would be cancelled before the Red Wedding, and if they could get to that point they could be happy.
They've just stopped giving a shit at this point. Everything is designed to have shock value and nothing else matters anymore.

You're confusing an argument about style with an argument about substance. I'm not defending the substance of the scene, I'm saying that people are wrong to suggest the style of the dialogue is a radical departure from previous depictions. The S1 example I gave is Drogo pulling up a disobedient bloodrider. The dialogue people are finding fault with is interacting with a perceived slave captive. The dialogue they're comparing it with is bloodriders and handmaids talking to or in the presence of a khaleesi, and Drogo talking to his new wife who he's in love with and awww. Of course different vocabularies are employed.
All the rest is more strawmanning, I'm going to have to assume samefag if that keeps up.

Most of the lines were considerably different tonally and the way they were written. You have one 4 word line from season 1 and one lines from dream drogo who wasn't real. Honestly, you just sound desperate to win an argument when you don't have any real points.
