Maybe her car actually crashes into the TARDIS when the Doctor accidentally materializes it onto the road. Another car swerves and becomes part of the wreck. The Doctor sends the TARDIS away so no one sees it and he tries to help the victims of the crash. In the process he gets accused of attempting assassination and has to prove his innocence by pinning the crash on the other driver.
