Viridiana, Mamma Roma, L'Eclisse, seems to me to undermine leftist politics. Disregarding certain maoists, who make shit flicks anyway, and the hard-knock in your face social realism pictures, there was usually a stupid little 'anti-bourgeois' purpose in great films but it didn't amount to much.
