her name is clara oswald and she's a pretty young adult who is a teacher but also a romantic lover of a black man (because she is progressive) but she's actually the guardian angel of the doctor with the power to appear at any place in the universe and protect him when he is in danger
also she has very smart and clever and also can fly the tardis and is able to say anything to get herself out of a bad situation.
she is also immortal because she died but then the doctor when back in time and saved her before she died but because she was meant to die and didn't she can now no longer die
also she has her own tardis and her companion is an immortal viking ninja

I'm still getting my head round this episode.
So basically, Clara died through circumstance when Ashildr was trying to trap the Doctor in the Confession Dial, as ordered by the Time Lords. They did this because they knew the Doctor had received information about the Hybrid prophecy when he was young. The Doctor did know something, but nothing really worthwhile, so it was kind of useless. But because he had just lost Clara, he smashed his was through a mega-diamond wall for 4,5 billion years just to get to Gallifrey and save Clara using Time Lord technology. This in turn would be extremely devastating to the universe, which basically means that the Time Lords brought the Hybrid prophecy (Doctor and Clara tearing the universe apart) to fruition themselves by trapping the Doctor (in order to extract information from him) in the first place.
If that's right, then that's actually pretty fucking cool.Now, I know this was explained in the episode, but I forgot it, but why didn't the Doctor just tell the Veil the truth and go to Gallifrey the short way round? Something about Clara?

Before that they were probably at their best. This is the story where a Dalek actually shoots the Doctor, which actually costed him one of his regenerations.
Every Dalek story since then has just made them seem less and less threatening. I don't think Moffat has any clue how to use them effectively and shoehorning them into episodes where they're not needed is only making it worse.

The entire plot was built on something that was doomed to fail regardless. Why does Davros not know about the sewers? Why are there even sewers full of daleks on a newly reborn Skaro? What was the point of the daleks getting stronger? What was the point of Clara getting stuck inside the dalek? What was the point of having Missy in the episode at all? Why does Davros have a (admittedly cool) snake henchman? Why are the daleks implied to be physically unable to say certain words while in the armor, when it's supposed to be in their nature? Why is the Doctor so surprised to hear a dalek say "Mercy" when we've seen them say it before?

Man, I watched Deadly Assassin and Invasion of Time today to get ready for this episode. I was all pumped to get references and get winks to old characters as we spend the episode steeped in Gallifreyan lore, ten years coming. I didn't expect the decade-awaited return of Gallifrey to just be a plot device to bring Clara back to life. Anything could've been sufficient for that. because people were expecting this finale to be about Gallifrey and the Time Lords, lead by Rassilon.
Moffat, being pathologically scared of being predictable, made the Time Lords shit and had the Doctor beat Rassilon in five minutes flat, then made the whole episode about Clara, a character who had a perfect exit and had no possible reason to come back.
He basically gave the finger to the audience and said "You know the face-off with the Time Lords that you were expecting? Well, fuck it! I'm going to make it anticlimactic on purpose and turn the plot of the finale into something completely different! See how clever I am!"

Series 2 was GOAT. High point for nuwho, cybermen were terrifying when I was younger, the fucking devil, torchwood and clockwork men being some of the best, not to mention werewolves, zombies and faceless people. Had some of the best scares.
Doctor Who used to appeal to children and adults, that's why it gained such acclaim with tennant and eccleston. It started to fall slowly more into the childish area with smith and then became so convoluted not even kids seemed like the target audience anymore.
The show hasn't been great for a while. There have been small gold nuggets here and there but it's usually in a sea of shit .
We need a new showrunner fast. 7-9 have not been very consistent at all. Moffats gone mad with power.
