Best episode? No

Best ending? Of Who full stop. It was perfect. The dying right, the loop, the slightly changing story, the kind of surprise finally breaking through, the soundtrack, the hybrid confirmation.

I haven't been here in like a month and I just caught up on the last 4 episodes (up to Face the Raven).

What did every think of those episodes?

I thought Harness really stepped up his game with the Zygon episodes. Much better than Kill the Moon, and I actually liked Kill the Moon. 7/10 for each.

Sleep No More was... eh. It reminded me too much of Under the Lake and Before the Flood. 5/10 pretty average, liked the ending scene though, genuinely spooky.

Face the Raven was just... damn. I didn't know Clara was going to die cause I've been living under a rock, and it hit me really hard. I almost can't believe she's gone. 8.5/10

Sooooo, what was the point? Was the Doctor supposed to die? Be stuck forever? Confess...something about the hybrid, which is himself?
Why didn't the stars reset themselves if it was all some kind of Timelord simulation? That way he couldn't have worked out how to win.
Why didn't the barrier reset itself, instead of gradually weakening?
Why did the creature keep accepting confessions it had heard before, if they had to be new ones?
I feel like the 'resetting' thing wasn't explained or thought out well enough.

Comment from a woman called Andie Langridge on the Doctor Who facebook page:

"Congratulations Moffat you've managed to create an episode worse than Sleep No More. The background music is too loud you can hardly hear the dialouge, the story line is weak and the only scary aspect of this episode is that there is a second part to it. Poor at best. And i am gutted because i love doctor who but what Moffat has created is dismal"

High up in the north, in the land called Svithjod, there stands a rock. It is a hundred miles high and a hundred miles wide. Once every thousand years a little bird comes to this rock to sharpen its beak.

When the rock has thus been worn away, then a single day of eternity will have gone by.

As far as I understand it -

He got teleported to his confession dial (somehow) and wasn't actually properly on Gallifrey, hence the wall and the Dial closing down at the end of the episode. So the stars might not have been the same stars you'd have seen if you were standing on Gallifrey.

The clothes are one of those loopy paradoxes. He put the clothes there. But who put the clothes there the first time for him to find?
>>
>>63126375
>two warrior races
>human and those space warriors

SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIT
>>
>>63126412
At some point The Doctor got tired of going through the sequence with wet clothes and did it once naked?
>>
>>63126412
The same people who put the castle there.
>>
>>63126412
The Doctor did and then he's running around starkers till he gets killed
>>
>>63126359
Maybe he only has one and the first time he run through he was naked. His second found them and started the loop.
>>
>>63126375
>>63126399

True dat senpai. Arya stark is fuckin up shit. But damn, regeneration? execution? Valeyard possible? Fuck fuck fuck so many hype

Maisie had been asked to trap the Doctor before Clara died, though.

Does this mean that TWF/TMA happen after Heaven Sent/Hell Bent?
>>
>>63126375
OH FUCK OFF
NO
STOP IT
>>
>>63126236
But for a Time War shit would be perfect. Never lose your most valuable Time Lords, able to create a huge army of your best Gallifreyan grunts, conserve your timefuckery weapons and means for other shit, create endless time Lord suicide "bombers" who can use up all regenerates to blow Dalek fleets to shit and in a a way lose no Time Lords
>>
>>63126461
maybe? no?
>>
So how many 'clones' of the doctor were there? There must have been at least 500000000000 if we think that the doctor was there for a day each time round?
>>
>>63126459
Yeah thats why her reaction was geniune when she realised Clara got the curse.
>>
Why and how exactly did the time lords grant the doctor a new regeneration cycle in time of the doctor? pls explain
>>
>>63126478
The confession dial gets created in Heaven Sent so how did he have it before?

And whose to say they didn't do a lot of this? The Time War was fucked.

Granted it wasn't a 10/10 but I thought it was clever.

Didn't the doctor first say he had not traveled through time? That was his first transition. Later on he says 7000 years in the future. We were already traveling through the years with him right the way up to the replays.

It's true.
Maybe he has a score to settle with the Time Lords, but I feel like the Capaldicking he's gonna do is strictly directed at ME.

What did everyone think 12's theme was called before "A Good Man?"

>>
>>63126524
You see it get formed in his hands once he reaches Gallifrey? Idk.
>>
>>63126500
The fact they didn't just do the latter idea at the end to fight off the Daleks and their fleet. Doesn't even seem like the machine needs a lot of energy since it clearly doesn't depend on regeneration energy, which I'd think would run out after 2 billion years.

Post the second trailer just shown on BBC1
>>
>>63126242

Wouldn't have been first time, as there were no skulls or moved stars, or bird message, as clues.
>>
>>63126624
no, i mean why wouldnt he confess it in the castle
>>
>>63126606
Yeah it has to work like that then. But the confession dial we have seen throughout the series was made at the end of Heaven Sent. Okay I get it.
>>
Who wants to bet this hybrid thing will be some bullshit like the Doctor having to reveal his name, where we'll never find out who the hybrid is?

inb4 he tells someone he'll say who it is, but only the day nobody cares about the answer, and then winks at the audience
>>
>>63126375
That would mean the only reason she was calling herself 'me' earlier on would be to set up this one piece of contrived wordplay to infuriate the fans by teasing a much bigger revelation than will actually be delivered.

In short, classic Moffat.

I swear one of these days that brillo-pad haired fucker is going to give me an aneurysm

A second trailer showed new stuff. Anyone got a link?

Look up
>>
>>63126640
That was back when he wanted to keep it secret. Seeing as he's now on Gallifrey itself, I suppose he had no reason not to say it anymore.

Hell, if he's the one destined to conquer it, maybe that's why he's avoided looking for it for so long.
>>
Jason Donovan is torturing my ears!
>>
>>63126559
He spent the entire episode inside it, how could it have only been made the moment he leaves it?
>>
>>63126730
Obviously a time lord intern fucked up somewhere.
>>
Ashildr/ME is totally going to be the hybrid.
She's all like "time to tell the truth", Time Lords are like "a hybrid between two warrior races" and the Doctor is all like "that time I went too far".

It's going to be her...
>>
>>63126762
Yeah, Heaven Sent as an episode=the creation of the confession dial.
>>
>>63126740
I am not getting through here. I am saying that Asdfir being hybrid makes less sense than doctor being hybrid.
If the doctor knew that Asdfir was the hybrid, what reason would he have to withold that information?
>>
>>63126541
>That was his first transition.

No it wasn't. There were already dead Doctor skulls lying around.
>>
>>63126730
Well if there was literally no chance of him ever escaping and he worked that out, he could've just let it kill him and be done with it. The ridiculously slim hope of success is the entire point of the dungeon, to keep him going, while mere statistical probability means one time he WILL break. It's a nice twist on a torture device.
>>
>Already right at the end of Capaldi's second series
Christ, he'll be gone in like 2-3 years time won't he? Time flies.

Nah m8, Ashildr teleported him inside it.

I fucking despise you Moffat.
>>
>>63126824
No he was already traveling through his transitions as the episode progressed.
>>
>>63126811
That is a pretty weird assumption to make, based on one computer animation of the dial forming in his hand.

The dial doesn't even include a confession, so it's a pretty useless thing. How is it even meant to work NORMALLY in your mind?

>>63126837
We're at the middle of his era most probably.

Me is Ashildr's name retard
>>
>>63126142

ahahaha, got it in one. fuck everything.
>>
>>63126885
My assumptions are constantly changing. I just thought that the animation proved that whoever wanted the Doctor's confession got enough of what they wanted. What do you think?
>>
>>63126359
Kek this is why we had under the lake before the flood
Boot strap paradox being explained b4 it's used at the end
I'm sure the season dvd extras will refer to it
>>
>>63126412
Bootstrap paradox - the first or second time around he left his clothes or maybe he figured it all out then
Remember the first sequence we see is 7k after he got there so it's possible it took that long for him to refine it
Putting the shoes etc back exactly tipped me off to it
>>
>>63126829

But then you're saying they knew that even a choice of confession or death wouldn't get him to confess, but that they just hoped SOMETHING, maybe, might get him to - in the short space of time that passed for each iteration. It's a sucky plan.
>>
>>63126981

The animation showed he broke the barrier and got out. That's all.
>>
>>63126493
He was getting battered and clala shouted at a crack in space - it was suggested they wouldn't give him the extra set until he said his true name but she shamed them into it or they didn't want him to die until they got the secret of the hybrid
>>
>>63127072
That's the assumption they were working from, which is why the confession dial giving them BILLIONS of throws of the dice means that at least once he would slip up. They thought.
>>
>>63127214
Why not just make the exit fake so he still thinks he can escape without actually making it possible?
>>
>>63127263
Maybe it had to have an exit, they just decided the sickest possible way to frame it would be with all that stronger than diamonds shit.

Or maybe they just got cocky. The fucking chances of The Doctor ever succeeding to escape are fucking vanishingly small.
>>
>>63127214

I reckon less than a hundred thousand goes before he'd worked out there was a loop and planned to break through. Plan sucks.
>>
>>63127357

There was more chance of the Doctor accepting his death than that of something vague maybe, possibly, hopefully getting him to confess.
>>
>>63127418
It's like you didn't understand the episode at all.

He has to work all that shit out every single time from scratch, and with every run through there is the chance he'll break, which he came perilously close to BILLIONS OF TIMES.
>>
>>63126336

time lords didn't count on him tele-cloning himself over and over again for 2 billion years to smash through a 20 ft wall of super space diamond so they didn't make the diamond wall reset, i mean that super space diamond is presumably very hard to get and thus hard to restock on (plus it's a portal to the real world, gallifrey, and thus needs to be governed by some kind of material and thermodynamic laws to some degree). The Veil kept allowing him to repeat the same confession because it was automated to just respond to the three confessions, like 3 passwords (1. I didn't leave Gallifrey because I was bored like Patrick Troughton said, I was scared. 2. The reason I left was the Hybrid, the super-sekret being the Time Lords created to preempt the Time War, and people think it's a Timelek. 3. It's not a Timelek desu, the Daleks don't like hybrids, one time their most open minded members tried to make one with a human and were so disgusted they chained it up and eggsterminated it, no I am the Hybrid because I was half-human on my mother's side, which explains my love of liberty, rock music and jammy dodgers ;^);^);^);^);^);^);^)).

Say the Doctor takes 48 hours to work out all the shit and get to the diamond room and then back up the tower to the teleport before he burns himself out and instigates the tele-cloning of himself at pretty much the same time every time, then the castle is on a 48-hour reset loop. Everything except the diamond wall and whatever the Doctor brings to the castle (ie his jacket n' bones) gets reset. The stars don't get reset because their supposed to imitate real life so the Doctor gets the impression he's remained in the same place. Meaning the grave he digs and everything gets reset. I can't exactly remember but I think he takes off his jacket after he jumps in the sea right? And then finds the dry one and puts that on? Meaning the jacket gets constantly topped up every time he turns up again. It all holds up as far as I can tell.
>>
>>63127647
>no I am the Hybrid because I was half-human on my mother's side, which explains my love of liberty, rock music and jammy dodgers ;^);^);^);^);^);^);^)).
