So what's with this trend about The Shining? Kubrick is my favorite filmmaker, has been for many, many years. But I never particularly cared for the Shining. Now, with all of these retarded theories about the movie, people act like it is his greatest work. I have literally heard intelligent people say that it is better than 2001.
I have recently rewatched it about 20 times, and the thing I was most impressed with was the use of music and tight storytelling. I failed to see any symbolism of grand schemes like the gold standard or genocide.

Why is it that Harrison Ford always gets a free pass to just take a dump on the movies he stars in, and his fans? He never cares about any of his roles, and always acts with exasperation or disgust whenever people ask if he was excited to make the film or reprise a beloved character. Any other actor who behaved like this would be instantly blacklisted.
People say he's "charismatic" and that's why he gets to act like a total shit, but there are countless other "charismatic" or "cool" actors who are always very careful to treat the work with respect.
