I want to travel solo with my 3 year old and show her the world. I'm into hiking, outdoors and sea. pretty much anything outdoors with beautiful views. but with a child might be out the question.
how do i travel with a toddler and not be those Disney world parents were they shut in their hotels and only go out to tourist spot
i wanna show her nature but never did this before. I'm open to any part of the world. i like adventure.
just sack up and do it.
my wife and i have been taking our 1 year old son to yosemite and all over the sierra since he was 3 months old, and we're going to japan with him next year just before he turns 2.

by the time the meal is ready, i can't think of taking photos anymore... this is the closest probably, it's only the rice and the marinated meat missing, the sides are almost all set. busan, the restaurant where we saw most locals go in. no fish there.
the best food pics on my phone are wechat uploads from random nanning kids in china. they upload all these chickens beheaded in dusty backyards all the time, gotta love them.

Tortas are just sandwiches made in Mexico. I had them all over the place. I've seen a few different versions but the one with roasted pork meat was probably most common. They were all awesome. Until I made it to Guanajuato and tried this one. This one wasn't just awesome, it was one of the best things I've ever eaten.
First of all, they person just made a regular sandwich with some roasted pork head meat. Lots of fatty bits in there. Then they started putting in pieces of chicharron in there. They just kept stuffing it and stuffing it to the point where it was no longer possible to bite it without pulling out some of the pieces of fried pork skin. Everything was covered in the best salsa I've ever had in my life and one I will likely never eat again. The person who made it said it was made with 7 different chilies some of which were local. It's pictured in the back. Avocado was in there as well somewhere but seriously, it's all about the chicharron and salsa in this one.

So how celebrated is Canada Day in Montreal? I know Quebec has a questionable relationship with the rest of Canada, but will there at least be some sort of celebration? I'm heading to Montreal from June 26th - July 6th and staying at the M Montreal hostel and just wanted to know if there will be stuff to do on July 1st.
Speaking of Montreal,

Yes there are restaurants and 'places' to check out. As it seems like you've done zero research and expressed no interestes, I'm gonna skip replying to that until you give us more to work with.
Yes, there are trains (Via Rail), and busses too. Quebec city is a "day or two" kind of place, Toronto you'll need at least 3-4 days.

Easy far over-stated. Actual hostility to Canada is very rare; it's a matter of competing allegiances. More analogous to, say, Texas than Turkistan or whatever you have in mind.
But Ottawa is really the place to be for Canada Day, and it's close to Montreal. Also IIRC Canada Day is "moving day" in Montreal so a lot of people are occupied with that (leases run out / start then for whatever reason).

Lately there s been some talking in Spain about how to restrict or control in some way the flux of tourists that invade Barcelona.
The new mayor, who has a social activist background, wants to limit new hotel licensing and does not like AirBnB,
I am not from Barcelona and I dont particularly like the new mayor but I kind of support all these measures.
I ve been to Barcelona several times and it just gets worse every time I go. If I was a Barcelona habitant I would certainly be pissed off and I would feel like an outsider in my own city.
Las Ramblas has no charm left whatsoever. Drunk anglosaxons invade the whole city. La Boqueria is a shithole, completely ruined. The bottom line is that Barcelona is not an enjoyable city anymore. In the other hand, many bussinesses depend on tourism and this might cause some unemployment, but I think massification will have worse effects in the long term.
What does /trv/ think about massified tourism? What do you think about this kind of measures?
Barcelona is just an example but we could talk about Venice, Rome, Paris, Hong Kong...
Catalan here. I support it. We should extend the same kind of measures to all kinds of tourism. Generally speaking the mediterranean coast of Spain is an example on how you should not develop tourism. Barcelona is still ok but is going the wrong direction. I'm glad we are tackling this problem now.

How's this country? I rarely hear of people visiting it. I have always been interested in MENA countries, particularly ones around the Maghreb part of Africa (namely North Morocco, Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia). I'm curious about visiting this obscure little country Algeria. How will a 18 year old girl like me do there ? Is it safe? What can I do?

Hi /trv/ going to india in march/april, and looking for some advice, i plan to start from goa, and end up in delhi, possilby going through the following places (mumbai, ahmedabad, udaipur, pushkar, tordi sagar, jaipur, agra) I have a budget of about 40,000 rupees (excluding flight fees) for about a months worth of travelling, just any general advice on places to go, best way to get around etc would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The Delhi Belly meme is really exaggerated. Don't eat off the street if it wasn't cooked right before your eyes, and don't eat at really dingy looking restaurants. Guts need time to acclimatize it's true, but having some fucking standards of hygiene goes a long way.
Anyway, I'd not visit more than one city in Rajasthan/Gujarat. They're all the same ... desert scrub scenery, camels, skinny Indians with turbans.
Consider adding Amritsar (Golden Temple is cool, Sikhs are based, Punjabi food is fattening and delicious) and Aurangabad (Ajantha and Elora are amazing).
Don't spend any longer in Agra than you need to see the Taj Mahal. If you can, plan it so that you arrive early in the day, hustle over to the Taj Mahal, spend a few hours as necessary, and then get the fuck out.

This is a cool and cheap city with great neighborhoods and history. Architecture is amazing and virtually all tourist attractions are free or cheap. Good Baseball team if you are in to that. 2nd best zoo in america and its FREE, all Museaums are FREE. Beer and food is cheap and great stl style food, BBQ, Pizza, Toasted Ravioli, good craft beers. Add STL to your next cross country road trip or as a destination. Gateway arch is undergoing a massive renovation, central west end is named one of the best neighborhoods in america, delmar loop named best commercial district, forest park named best public space (which also hosted the 1904 worlds fair, and now all free attractions meuseams, zoo, etc) Soulard neighborhood is historic/cool and is about to host Mardi Gras (2nd best in america just after NOLA)
once the 3rd largest and 2nd richest city in america there is a lot of cool buildings to look at as well.
Give St Louis a try for good food, awesome neighborhoods, Cheap& Free times..

Hi guys, im planning to take the Amtrak Crescent line in April from New Orleans to Atlanta where i will get to meet my fiancee's family.
So we are making the trip but would love to save as much as possible, therefore, we are taking the coach seats, and hoping we can have a lot of fun and adventures on this trip.
What advice can you give me, what can you tell me about the amtrak trains, this particular route, etc.

I've never been on a long distance Amtrak but I'm posting because I'm hoping to go on the California Zephyr this summer and wondering if /trv/ had any advice as well.
I have heard though that Amtrak in the south is pretty boring in terms of scenery.

Amtrak is expensive, slow, and pointless. You're not going to be sitting there reading the paper and smoking a pipe like weird fantasy you've undoubtedly built up in your head. You're going to be watching hours of fields and swamps go by while you tap at your phone.

Most are decent people but there are a few types to avoid like chavs and kippers. There are comparatively few of these cunts about but they're the ones that like to make the most noise, they tend to have no qualifacations past GCSE level (or O-Level in the case of most kippers because only the very wierd ones are under 50).
If you hear anybody whittering on about the EU as if it was the most important thing in their lives run a mile and find a nice tea shop or you run the risk of being bored to death by misinformed bullshit about "Eurocrats", straight bananas and imperial measurements being more important than things like the NHS, poverty or taxes.
