Messi is a better player than Ronaldo, I really can't see how anyone can argue otherwise after seeing both play. He's just able to impact a game more deeply than Ronaldo, and I think he's more consistent than Ronaldo.
Although I'd say if "god" was asked to create the perfect football player, a player that would do well in any era, it would probably be closer to Ronaldo than Messi. Ronaldo is fast, strong, great header, etc. He dominate in the 1920s, 1960s and 2000s. Messi is probably more suited to today's slower possession based football.

Ronaldo is a good player, and so is Messi. Both are no doubt the top 2 of this generation...but Messi is simply better, you don't need to be a hater to acknowledge this. Messi is more versatile and can fill more roles on the pitch, is a great playmaker and assister, great finisher when he played in the middle for Barca, and remarkable vision and passing. Ronaldo is good too, a good target man and great at knowing how to be in the right place at the right time. I'd say he's good at free kicks too but we both know that's not true anymore, he's regressed so hard, he's not even top 10 in the world anymore and Messi has surpassed him in that, but he used to be good at them a few years back.
You don't need to sperg out about this. You can appreciate both of them without hating one or the other and saying they're trash. If you were objective about things you'd clearly see Messi is the better player though, that's just how it is.
