it's designed to be a recursive system that re-balances the values for how good each team is based on the previous values until it converges onto specific values for each team empirically. so if I do that after say, week 10, then I'd have to run the converging process again after I include week 11's games to get new values. that's fine though, takes all of 3 seconds, the problem is making a formula to give approximate ratings for teams that would create relatively accurate representations of how that game went for those teams given their initial impressions of how things SHOULD go. if I get that right, I can use it to make predictions as well. the thing is trying to figure out which stats seem important in this context but are actually not useful and don't contribute (or are counterproductive) towards giving the intended results. I don't really concern myself too much with how the useful stats make sense together, only that the actual end product looks like it comes out properly, or else it wouldn't be useful.

How soon is too soon to draft Ezekiel, I'm thinking of keeping Antonio Brown with my round 1 pick and then taking Big Zeke in the 2nd. I expect him to be around for a decade so speaking purely for the future it may be a good move.

well if I can get the ratings to come out right, it wouldn't exactly pop out a record as a prediction itself, but rather the record would be derived from the results. so say that the formula say that they were the stronger team in X number of games, but their actual result was X - 3 wins then that would indicate they significantly underachieved.

I'm in a 16 team league. each team has the option to take up to 3 keepers. You take one you lose your first round pick, you take two and you lose your first and second and so on. I'm only keeping Antonio Brown and am letting Matt Forte and Eddie Lacy go. I won't know who is doing what until keepers date comes and goes

I meant more like each team would be given ratings compared to each other based on the overall big picture, and then by looking at the actual results between teams with X and Y ratings, you can see where the outlier performances would be. So for instance (pulling numbers out of my ass here) if the 2015 49ers were rated at -3.27 and the 2015 Vikings were rated at +2.78, then the 49ers beating the Vikings in week 1 would be a statistical aberration. By looking at which teams SHOULD have won each game and how things actually turned out, you could see which teams over/under-performed. That's not the entire purpose of the spreadsheet though, since by setting it up to run continuously the actual ratings involved would change from week to week, so the 5-11 49ers beating the 8-8 Falcons looks like less of a surprise in hindsight than it did at the time. by compiling those changes in perception week-to-week, you can see which teams are building significant momentum and should not be nearly as scary or as slept on in the coming weeks, depending on the case.

I think I get what you're saying but I know im not quite there. You said you had a rough draft of graphs of this. May I see so I can get a visual representation of what you're saying?
>>
>>69107731
As I said before, I'm struggling to figure out how to make the actual ratings themselves look accurate, which will take a while to figure out since I have to empirically test how the system would look if implemented, and if that actually makes sense. What makes it harder is that doing so is a partially subjective process since I'd have to throw out configurations that give results I deem nonsensical. If I had figured it out already though, then it would already be done and I wouldn't need to go "finish it up and post it".

>>69107753
Not graphs, spreadsheet. It's not visual. Also, it's in a highly WIP state that isn't ready for sharing and wouldn't make any sense yet, I'd have to clean it up considerably beforehand.

The Brady suspension fiasco is Roger clumsily and idiotically trying to assert his authoritah after being made to look stupid yet again after his team fucked up the initial "investigation" completely. Any and all other suspensions are him effectively doing as he wants, just like with the Brady issue.

I would usually share your sympathy, but you can't deny that young millennials are the most useless and arrogant wastes of space in the work force right now. at my job 3 years ago I had to train a guy and he was always texting and laughing at shit on his phone WHILE I was training him. I'd just stop and let him do it, to see if he had any awareness at all of what he was doing. none whatsoever. there's also been plenty of people that didn't last long who kept complaining that something "wasn't their job". there are obviously plenty of exceptions, but it's a big trend. a bunch of entitled, lazy, spoiled, and incompetent fucks that really aren't prepared to be working.

one of the worst times I've been on the other end of it though was at a KFC, back when they were doing that 3-way bucket split thing. the line was backed up out the door, not because they were especially busy but because one of the guys was so stupid he dragged everyone else down. I had to wait for over half an hour just to order. among other issues, he left the front area unattended while he went into the backroom for over 5 minutes looking for packets of honey, only to come back with something else and not even remembering that's what I asked for, so he had to ask someone else where the honey was. then he started putting all the chicken in the bucket, and stopped, confused. he asked the old woman doing the drive-thru how to get the 3-way splitter in the bucket, and she had a fit like this retardation was new to her. didn't say a word, slammed a fresh bucket down, whipped open the splitter, stick it in the bucket, and pointedly threw each piece of chicken in. stormed off. there are people like this all over the place.

my only problem is that even when he wins, he's set himself up to be so controversial and unwilling to work within the status quo that congress alienates him, his own party too. so he wouldn't be able to do us any good, not because his ideas aren't good but because he can't get anything done at all. still, nothing getting done would be leagues better than hillary doing anything.

that only requires one thing, not really a high bar.

still, anything that needs a supermajority (2/3) to pass is going to be absolutely fucked, and he'll face a tough road even with just regular majority requirements, since he might have a consistent 30-40% but regularly getting over 50% seems a bit much to ask right now. if you're right though, I've got no cause to complain. that would be great.

You really shouldn't be banking predictions on I juries that haven't happened.

The Seahawks lost their bell cow player and have a terrible line yet you have them as superbowl contenders. You should really think more before you do those type of things. Kirk cousins has as much of a chance to get injured as Tony Romo yet you have them ahead.

I'm sorry, but did the Chargers already lose? Oh, that's right. The game isn't even over yet. In fact, it's only halftime. Does not having the lead at halftime count as a loss? Is that what you're saying? Because if you're saying that I can assure you that you're wrong. Why would you make this topic when the game is still on? The Chargers are still playing right now and they have been the best team in the AFC West for how many years now? They're playing one of the worst teams in the NFL who just happen to have a lead because they're feeding off the energy of playing in a Monday Night Game. But you know what? They still fucking suck. The Chargers are one of the best fucking teams in the NFL, they went 13-3 last year and would of won the Super Bowl if the kicker didn't choke. Maybe you should shut the fuck up before you make retarded topics like this. You know why? Because you're going to be embarrassed when the Chargers wins and someone bumps this topic. Oh look at that, the Chiefs just stepped out of bounds short of the 1st down when they needed to get one, just like the Jets did. Are you a fucking drunk? Are you retarded? Are you autistic? You are a fucking idiot and you should never make a topic on this board again and I'm fucking serious. I almost have a feeling you're the only guy making all these anti-Chargers topics because you're a faggot hater who doesn't like the team because they're good. Fuck you, be good at something in YOUR life and then maybe try to troll these fucking teams on the board, like I give a fuck. It's so easy to spot out your threads now, you're a retard. Always doing stupid shit like this. Why don't you try to be a good poster? Just for once? For once in your fucking life try not to make a topic like this. That's just you, you're always right at getting it wrong. Fuck you. You are nothing.

seahawks have a top 5 offense with a top 5 QB, top 3 defense, and have a young running back who led the league last year in ypc, starting ypg, and yards after contact. Plus a defense that's healthy and cohesive for the first time since 2013. They have a far higher chance to win the SB than the fucking Cowboys lol. The Cowboys will probably come third in the division.

Here's the probable Top 10 players, alphabetical and by position.

WRs: Beckham Jr, Brown, Julio Jones,
RB: Peterson
TE: Gronkowski
DL: Watt
LB: Kuechly

What is the final order?

Was watching the SB film of 36... Spygate shit aside, Bill got as much video as he could of the Rams from the previous weeks and became hell-bent on stopping Marshall Faulk.
Everyone was concentrated on MVP-boi Kurt and the pass game, but Marshall was the real backbone of it all. And the Pats defense managed to contain him enough (76 rush yards on 17 attempts, plus 54 rec. yds on 4 attempts) to let Brady march 'em down the field to get the Patten TD and Vinatieri's FGs.

absolutely not, Bill LOVED Kevin as a player. Kevin was the Swiss Army knife of both the run and pass game, and was obviously content on doing it, given that he stayed a Pat for his whole 13-year career. fun fact: he threw the only pass that Tom Brady was targeted (and caught) for 23 yards, back in that magical year of 2001.

Shut the fuck up about Anderson's miss. That was literally like 0.5% of the reason they didn't win the owl.
First off, it was a 48 yard attempt. Not exactly a chip shot. They were still up 7 after that, but the defense choked and gave up a TD. The offense was too scared to play for a win in regulation even though they were one of the best deep ball teams of all time. The defense choked again in OT. They shouldn't have even been in that situation in the first place, but they played like shit all game. And even if they would've won that game, they would've had to face the defending super bowl champions, who happened to have a 2000 yard rusher and NFL MVP. Minnesota couldn't beat Atlanta at home, and Denver whooped their asses in a neutral field. The Vikings weren't good enough to win (or even get to) the super bowl that year, and blaming the kicker because he missed one fucking kick is kindergarten-tier retard analysis.

when you have a kicker who had the first PERFECT season on over a certain req. number of attempts (35 in his case), you expect him to make the kick, considering he was 14 for 14 on 40+ yarders in the regular season. They would easily have had a chance to beat the Broncos too.

I honestly think the best you can hope for is getting lucky as fuck and striking gold. Mark Davis is a complete fucking retard and we're finally getting better. I'd still rather suffer through Mark's reign than see another owner come into the picture, I can't imagine the Raiders without the noble Davis bloodline.

I talked to some anon here a while ago and he said the Browns would git gud if they just rolled with their punches and stopped trying to make a big splash every year in the draft. The Browns finally did that this past year, and that is how the Raiders got back on track. The Niners just kind of rolled with what they had this past draft, I think if you just let them keep happening and see where you wind up rather than trying to force yourselves into being good you'll eventually pull through.
>>
>>69144228
>I honestly think the best you can hope for is getting lucky as fuck and striking gold.
we did that already. we got harbaugh, and Jed decided that wasn't good enough for him. getting lucky despite a bad front office isn't going to be good enough, we need Jed to just smarten up over the years. he's only in his mid 30s, he's got plenty of time left and not much experience yet.

Why did they even hire him in the first place? What did he have on his resume that made Jed say "Yeah, this is the guy".

shes means you can't be a man if you bounced something bigger than your benis.

>>69144631
that team after the fiasco could've done worse. He was screwed over doing a favor by cruise controlling the FO's damage. All that effort just to be cast like a worthless pawn.
>>
>>69144602

What did they change
>>
>>69144688
He wanted a yes man who would not interfere with his personality. Harbaugh was too strong-willed.
>>
>>69144698
This is why I'm mad.

actually getting the HC job was more like a loyalty reward since he was the one ratting on harbaugh to york and baalke. fangio was shipped out instead of given harbaugh's job because he "wasn't loyal enough".

Why havent you watched the All or Nothing series yet?

initially? he was brought over from NFL Europe to be the DL coach, and had that job for a while.

Same reason mularkey has a job, he's a placeholder coach while management decides what direction to go to.

Though he did as well as could be expected. 5 wins with a dysfunctional orgsnization and a shot tier roster. Still a better coach than gus Bradley.

also to clarify, he had been continuously working as a football coach in some capacity since as long as I've been alive, he just was at levels where he couldn't support his family full-time on that. a lot of the coaches in lower college tiers or that were in NFL Europe had side/seasonal jobs to make ends meet. so it's not like he had no experience with football beforehand, it was just that he had to do other jobs too

Not sure I'd go that far. The roster management aspect of HK is hard to beat.

Spending more effort trying to headshot the same player all game rather than actually playing
>>
>>69145486
cuz there are better numbers at every position that is allowed to use 40s
running backs and defensive backs tend to go lower because it's seen as more prestigious because of college, and linebackers prefer 50s and 90s
good number for a fullback tho

you probably didn't miss much, those often don't even last until week 3 before people start dropping. some of them give up before the draft is even over.
