I was at Officeworks located at Liverpool today and the Printing Service was appalling. I was "served" (I stress that the experience would barely pass for "service") by a lady named 'Rezwana'.
I mere asked for my notes to be printed in colour, and enquired how much either printing one-sided or double-sided would cost me. As I had plenty of notes to print out, and the store was relatively empty, I thought this was a fair question to ask. In response, I received a snide comment about it costing the same (sprinkled with a flair of arrogance of how this poor student must be wasting her time). Alas, I let the comment go, and I asked her to print out my notes in colour.
She scuffled off for a few moments, and came back with my notes printed in black-and-white. I reminded her of my original request - which should have been easy for someone of her position and 'specialisation' in the printing domain. Again, she gave me a look; a look that can only be described as though my existence pains her very own.
By this stage, I was annoyed but I kept my composure. I thought, she must be having an off day, and thus I kept my decorum.
Again, she came back and gave me my notes, finally as I liked them. I thought that would be the end of the affair, until she asked me to pay. At first, she wanted to charge me $22 for a mere 12 pages of coloured printing. I asked her kindly if the price was right. She looked at me, like I was robbing her store and told me that's how much 24 pages of colour had cost me.
I kindly asked her to recount my notes, and I said that perhaps she might have been mistaken. She then reluctantly counted my pages, and realised her mistake and re-keyed the price in her PoS machine. She didn't even give me an apology or a smile. By that stage, I wanted to leave so I paid for it, and went home.
As I came home, I realised she not only made me feel like I was sub-human, but also charged me for charged me for the Black & White pages she had mistakenly printed.

Get this Worst Cuckstralian the fuck out of MY cricket team. I get Worst Australians are conditioned to mediocrity, but this is pathetic. This is LITERALLY the team that won the World Cup little more than a year ago and virtually the entire core of that team is intact. Literally Watson is the only useful player not in the team anymore. The rest were terrible.

To give an example of the precision needed in cricket, this webm >>68486291 is often cited as one of the best balls of the last few years. It's a bit hard to see why from that footage but basically

>height
The position that he bounces it is perfect. It bounces just just just high enough to hit the bottom of the wickets (to get him out). Bounce any shorter and it's an easy shot to take a mighty swing at. You try swinging at a ball at that length and you're probably going to hit it straight in the air.

>line
He's bowling it at the stumps, but it's in the perfect line so that McCullum (batsman) HAS to play it, he can't leave it alone, because he knows it could bowl him (which it did, but that's for another reason). If it was any wider he would have just ignored it, any straighter and it would have been an easy drive.

>deviation
Starc is not bowling that fast. McCullum is one of the best batsmen in the world. It's around 90mph at a guess. McCullum isn't fazed by that. but if you look at where it bounces, Harris gets it to land on the seam perfectly, and just that tiny bit of movement from the seam gripping more moves the ball to the right straight past McCullum's bat and bowls him. It's not about the power of his bowling or doing it really quickly, it's about precision. Nor is batting about power, McCullum would normally just slog it out until the bowler bowls one that is harder for him to hit, it's about DUDE AGGRESSION LMAO and memes.

So to do that, Starc has to not only land the ball in a spot about the size of the ball itself, but he has to land it on a particular part of the ball (the seam) and get it to move slightly to the right (not left, that wouldn't get him shit against a left handed batsman at that angle). THAT is the precision required to get guys out.

Best part about that ball?

It was the fourth fucking ball of the game.

I think Zimbabwe is done

These tests >we're playing against them will be their last. It can't be good for them or for cricket forcing them to be in the top tier when they're probably 13th or 14th in terms of actual team rankings. Afghanistan comfortably beat them home and away. "Zimbabwe have a chance of winning" - Ankush

Reminder to NEVER listen to ANYTHING Wankush says about cricket
>>
Don't think it should be possibly to become a Test status nation without having a first class domestic competition in your country. This is what held back Bangladesh for many years. No reason Ireland couldn't create one, even if it was just 4 teams.Obviously makes it difficult for Afghanistan though.
>>
>>68490188
Ireland LITERALLY already have one for all three formats in everything but official status. They've done absolutely everything they can possibly do to succeed as a test nation.
>>

>They've done absolutely everything they can possibly do to succeed as a test nation.
Except for the part where the Irish public doesnt give a shit about cricket.

That's why the ICC put faith in Bangladesh and Afghanistan are being propped up so much, there is genuine grassroots interest
>>
>>68490306
There's been constant growth in the sport though. You've got to remember Irish cricket outside of the protestant population in Northern Ireland was virtually non-existent a decade ago.
There's an effective cap on how much they can actually achieve with their current funding though.
>>
>>68490396
Yeah I don't dispute they've made progress and I'm also in favour of them having Test status. For me the big difference between Ireland and Netherlands or North England is that they have actually produced home-grown talent, even if they do have a few aussies and kiwis in there.

That said, I seriously doubt Irish cricket can progress much further. The weather issue is obvious. Ontop of that Ireland is an established sporting nation with what, 5 mainstream sports already? I suspect it would be really difficult to break another into the mainstream. Every Irish anon who has ever posted here has said its impossible
>>
>An amazing 24,654 youngsters are now playing the game in comparison to 11,955 in 2011, a rise of 105 per cent according to figures released this week by Cricket Ireland.
>There was strong growth recorded throughout all categories in the survey undertaken for the International Cricket Council (ICC), with the overall participation figure for cricket standing at 40,414 - up from 25,170 in 2011 - an increase of over 60 per cent. There has also been a 29 per cent increase in the number of active coaches in Ireland, increasing from 910 to 1175.
>In a further sign of the game’s increasing popularity throughout Ireland, the number of teams playing the sport increased from 895 to 1056.There’s been an incredible expansion in the number of junior teams across Ireland, while adult team growth has also been strong in the Connaught and Munster areas, where the game has enjoyed a surge in interest following Ireland’s exploits on the world stage.

Obviously it's still very very niche in Ireland, but it's still an area with potential, especially given that it's unironically their most successful sport.

they have produced a few decent cricketers eg morgan, ed joyce, o'brien brothers, boyd rankin etc. giving them test status will increase popularity and potentially lead to finding more talent like this, and I imagine it could become like football where english players with irish grandmothers etc would play for ireland just to play test cricket, rather than never getting picked for england at least playing. would mean their white ball stuff gets better as less players would be poached for england

>Steve Waugh, Australian cricket legend, believes Australia's best four pacemen rival "any quick bowling quartet" in cricket history. Playing 168 Tests during a lengthy career spanning from 1985-2004, Waugh played with and against some of the best pace bowling arsenals ever assembled. In the Australian summer of 1988-89, Waugh faced the fearsome West Indian pace battery comprising of Malcolm Marshall, Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh and Patrick Patterson. Unable to curtail them, Australia were thrashed in the opening three Tests and lost the five match series 3-1.

>But the 51-year-old believed Australia's best current pace bowlers, if fit, could match any pace battery ever assembled. "I can't wait for all of the quicks to get together who are injured now," Waugh told foxsports.com.au on Wednesday (June 15). "James Pattinson, Pat Cummins, Mitch Starc and Josh Hazlewood as a quartet would be as good, if not better, than any quick bowling quartet in the history of the game."

It's not gambling when you always win. I know more than the bookies, they're just sheep. I am enlightened and use my superior mind to routinely outsmart them. I have more than $5000 in accounts across different countries, sites, and passports. I'm like a wolf, the wolf of bet365. I OWN the streets, the books, and hold all the cards. I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. If you think you can outsmart me, think again, bucko.

No, I'm not addicted, gambling isn't addictive. I am just making money, like any man. If only peasants like you could understand my genius

In his 2013 book, Capital in the 21st century, Thomas Piketty argues that as the rate of return on investments is greater than the overall growth of the economy there will always be rising income inequality in the current economic system.

The average person who will read this book will generally agree with the authors claim that progressive taxes need to be introduced to reduce this income inequality. However I am not the average person, you see I am like a lone wolf, and I realised that the book proves that investments are the path to success, whilst the weak minded saw proof the system was rigged against them I saw that it is rigged in my favour. This is where sports betting comes in. I know I could make money from stocks and bonds like anyone else but that is far too slow for me, so I gamble. Its like printing money with no risk, and there is no risk because I'm always right.

If you're not intimidated by the colossus of my intellect feel free to approach me, I'll even give you a few pointers to help out. I am targeting, and on track to, join the NZ rich list in 2018 so keep your eye out.

You however are nothing, forced to toil day after day pushing your rock up the hill so you can scrape together enough money to throw away on one of your pathetic accumulators. Enjoy rolling the boulder there sheep, someone needs to give these agencies the wealth they give to me.

The richest one percent of this country owns half our country's wealth, five trillion dollars. Also - not sure if people realise this, but the central contracts are determined by an algorithm. They literally rank performances of people in the last 12 months and pick the top 20. It's not a selection thing. Evidently Mark Craig's performances last year were enough to keep him on the list, that doesn't mean he's necessarily on the cards to play a lot in the coming year.
It is a pretty stupid system though.

>“Cricket has had eras. In the eighties, it was Viv Richards, and then you had Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar who stood out. Virat Kohli is one of the most complete players I’ve seen. He’s so versatile; he plays on both feet, and on all sides of the field,’’ said the cricketer-turned-politician in an interview to Hindustan Times.

ABA obsession is sickening tbqh

Just the other day I saw Atherton talking about the best batsmen in the world, and he only listed Williamson, Root and fucking Pissrat, ignoring the number 1 batsman in the world
>>
>>68517682
There is LITERALLY no definition by which Pissrat can be considered the best

if it is Test cricket, he isnt in the discussion

if it is across formats, it is Warner, no one else even comes close in that regard

but yeah he is the best T20 batsman i guess. Kek.

can associate nations play tests against each other?
>>
>>68522769
No.

There's several associate tiers, who play against eachother in first class 4 day matches and then some of those are given ODI and T20 status.
Teams like Afghanistan and Ireland are currently trying to gain test status, which would make them a full member of the ICC
>>
>>68522863
why not? i kinda understand the logic behind full members not playing tests against associates, but surely they latter should at least be able to compete in all formats of the game against each other
>>
>>68519199
>>68519193
>>68519135
>>
>>68522953
you misunderstood him. They do play against each-other in long form cricket.

You need to understand the difference between Test and First-Class
Test=5 day cricket played internationally. Only the 10 Full ICC members have Test status and can only play Tests against eachother.
First-Class= 3 or 4 (usually 4) day cricket. Same rules and everything as Test cricket but it is a level lower. The domestic competitions in all the full ICC nations are considered First-Class competitions.

The associates play First-Class games against eachother in a competition called the Intercontinental Cup. The winner of the current Intercontinental Cup will be granted Test status in the next couple of years.
>>
>>68523199
>The winner of the current Intercontinental Cup will be granted Test status in the next couple of years.
So long as they beat the lowest ranked test team, which will inevitably be Zimbabwe

How is that going to work with funding and voting though? Do the intercontinental cup winners always get a chance of beating the shit out of Zimbabwe and getting test status, or is it a one-off? I honestly don't get all the details, or why this had to be done when Ireland is ready for promotion.
>>
Didn't Rankin play in that last Test of the Ashes in 2013 where they got flogged?
>>
>>68523199
>Test=5 day
>First-Class= 3 or 4 (usually 4) day
yes, i know. but why can't the associates just play each other in 5 day matches?
>>
>>68523458
2013/4, yeah
>>
>>68523410
I know that, I just didn't want to confuse him with information overload

But lets be honest, whether it is Irelel or AfGOATistan, either one will slaughter Zimzam. it is a formality at this point

>How is that going to work with funding and voting though?
The winner will be granted Test status but NOT full ICC membership. it is literally international cricket at its worst and most corrupt.

>or is it a one-off

it's all in limbo atm. For now it is a one-off, but apparently they are going to scrap it and give both Irelel and AFG Test status and create 2 Test divisions (which would be a disaster t b h).

>or why this had to be done when Ireland is ready for promotion
It doesn't and its stupid. Cricket has always had reactionary governance and this is just a continuation of it. The ICC is literally the opposite extreme of FIFA.
>>
>>68523486
muh prestige and tradition

You've got to remember that cricket was a sport played by the aristocracy and upper class in England and was intentionally exclusive, hence the whole "gentleman's game" shit. The reason cricket died in America was actually partially because only English-owned countries were actually allowed to play against each other, which is why it only exists in former colonies and areas with pakistani influence (Oman, Afghanistan, UAE).

That elitist mentality has never really been shed by the ICC, hence the whole test shit.
>>
>>68523486
Impractical I guess. 5 days is a long time for guys who aren't necessarily professionals. There's even murmurs about changing Test cricket to 4-days.

Test cricket has changed over time. It used to be 6 day cricket I think. There was even a "timeless" Test once. It was a disaster and they gave up after like 10 days because their boat back home was leaving.

Both are textbook cases of how to not do things well

In the ICC's defence, they did try to expand test nations and that backfired spectacularly. It took until the mid to late 90s for Sri Lanka to stop being a joke, Bangladesh are still a joke and Zimbabwe imploded after 2003

>>68524598
The ICC is even worse than you think. it used to be that the 10 members had an equal vote on all issues. However, 2 years ago the Big 3 (India, England, Australia) launched a coup to basically seize control of the ICC by creating an ExCo that they sit on that has a veto in everything.

The reason that coup happened is because India generates 80% of the revenue in cricket and were furious that all ICC members get an equal share of the proceeds (I guess it is similar to how Germany and Liechtenstein get the same amount of money from FIFA) so the Big 3 takeover changed the distribution model in India's favour. That is also the reason India played against Zimbabwe recently and has been played against the likes of Bangers, WI, SL etc alot recently. Those tours were bribes to pass the Big 3 reforms.

If the Big 3 didnt pass India threatened to secede from the ICC and create a mega year-long IPL. Kek.

The good news though is that the new Indian head of the ICC has said he wants to undo the Pig 3 reforms.

btw if you're interested in cricket governance, watch 'Death of a Gentleman' by Jarrod Kimber & Sam Collins. We already knew the stuff that was in it, but it is a great entry-level infodoc for anyone not intimately familiar with how cricket is run. The good news is that alot of the issues raised in that film (ie Srinivasan & Clarke) have been solved.
>>
>>68525182
and the new head of the BCCI has opposed them. At least those fuckheads Giles Clarke and Srinivasan are out of the picture.

By the way my /bundes/ friend, if you want to get an understanding of the ICC, download Death of a Gentleman off the pirate bay. It's all about the corruption and general cuntishness of England and India.

LAHORE: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Anurag Thakur has started lobbying for keeping the Big Three formula intact in the International Cricket Council (ICC) which is in direct contrast to his predecessor Shashank Manohar’s plans of doing away with it for good.

Well-informed sources told Dawn that the BCCI president is most likely to project a favourable BCCI stance for the Big Three formula in the annual ICC meeting, to be held in London during the last week of June. Sources claimed that Anurag had also held initial discussion with England and Australia over his stance of pressing ahead with the Big Three formula. Three countries including India, Australia and England form the Big Three in the ICC.

Just playing along with the meme lad
>>
>>68525631
yeah its just the World Cup revenue that was distributed evenly

otherwise all cricket board make their money by hosting tours. Thats why literally everyone wants India to tour because that is the most profitable tour

>India tours
>sell TV rights to Indian TV station for ebin shekels

That is literally how New Zealand, Sri Lanka etc survive as professional entities.

This entire process is one of the fundamental flaws of international cricket. It is the biggest problem Test cricket faces and has basically killed it in the West Indies. Why would guys like Chris Gayle, Andre Russell etc want to play Test cricket year round and earn $100k when they can go to India and make $2mUSD for 6 weeks of hit and giggle?

Even in the Big Bash. Chris Gayle was on like a $200k contract while his compatriots were earning $5000 a Test match.

Only India, Australia and England are immune to this because they can afford to pay their Test players millions
