199 was my 3rd live UFC. I also went to UFC on FOX 1 and UFC 194. I live in LA.
Got to the Forum in time to see Bruce Leeroy and Miller scrap. That was a fun fight. Right away I was impressed by how loud and involved the crowd was. Sometimes the prelim crowds can be kind of dead. Lots of support for Alex with some Leeroy chants. Though it was shitty he didnt get a rogan interview.
The crowd in my section was super chill. Got to chatting with a few other fight fans about who they wanted to win and whatnot. The Penne fight was whatever, she got memed on. Hard to believe that chick fought for a UFC title. I kinda wanted the ref to let it go a little longer to punish Penne for wasting everyone's time.
My plan was to piss and buy a beer during the dariush fight cause I knew the lines would be long and I didnt really care about that fight. But I saw the line for the men's room and thought "Fuck the forum, I'm not buying any of their overpriced beer if I have to stand in that line when it's time to piss." Granted this was still the prelims and the arena wasnt close to full. So I didnt even drink all night, which was no big deal. Anyways the Dariush fight turned out to be interesting cause we got to see a guy get eyepoked twice, then rally and get the HEEM. The crowd went nuts for that one.
When I bought my tickets, I thought I was gonna be seated right next to the tunnel where the fighters enter from, but that turned out to be not the case. But I could look down into the tunnel I was next to and see the fighters pacing the hallway before walking out. So right before the T-city/guida fight is when I noticed this.
Anyways Guida/T-City was a good one. Guida actually got the bigger pop and got some chants even though Ortega is an LA boy. But everyone loves a vicious come from behind third round HEEM. So when he threw up the LA hand sign he got a good roar of approval from the crowd.

The Baba Oreilly montage was fucking awesome like it always is. The Face the Pain intro was fucking awesome like it always is. Even hearing the music that they play while Mike Goldberg welcomes everyone was great.
Poirier vs Green. Both guys got good pops even Green is the hometown boy. I don't know why he had his hands down the whole fight and let Poirier hit him like that. I liked seeing Dustin get the TKO win. Always been a fan of that dude. If you've never seen the documentary Fightville, it's a must watch.
Then they aired the Ali package that was narrated by Dana. That was really good. There was an Ali chant in the arena but I think it fizzled out kinda quickly. Someone in the thread said it made the broadcast.

Hendo/Lombard. I actually thought, "Is it possible Dan gets hurt really bad and I witness it?" I was surprised by how loud the arena got for his country music walkout. I know Hendo's a longtime fan favorite, but I mean the dude was like 2-6 in his last 8 fights. Liek I wasnt super exited about this fight. I thought it was be an easy win for Lombard. Right away when the fight started there was a Hendo chant. Then there was a let's go hendo chant. Then there was a USA chant. Whenever Dan landed a hit people cheered. When Lombard took him down, a dude behind me yelled "Stand em up!" When Dan got up, everyone cheered. When Lombard starting connecting with punches and Dan was reeling, you could feel everyone thinking "Just hang in there Hendo, you can do it! You can make it out of round one!" If ever there was a moment where a UFC crowd gave their energy to a fighter, it was that moment. When lombard had hendo on his back and was working that submission, everyone was willing Hendo to get out of it. And when he did the place when crazy. This was the moment where I was like "fuck yeah this is awesome."
Second round I dont remember what happened before the kick. In my mind that kick happened pretty soon in the round. But I vividly remember the kick connecting cause you could hear it, and Lombard catching the kick and thinking" well he's gonna take hendo down" and then Dan landing that elbow and Lombard dropping and Dan landing those punches putting Lombard to sleep. The fucking forum went nuts. Everyone jumped to their feet. Everyone was high fiving each other. Imagine being at a stanley cup game 7 and your team just scored a game winning goal in the last minute. It was like that. I think part of it was the fact that they had just shown us the Ali tribute, so seeing an old timer like Hendo do it one more time felt extra special. That right there was the moment of the night for me. I could have walked out of the Forum right then and felt like I got my money's worth.

Main event. I don't think anyone actually thought Bisping had a shot of winning. But when he put Rockhold to sleep the place went crazy. Not as crazy as it did for Hendo, but close. I think a lot of people legit wanted to Rockhold to win, and that's understandable. I was cheering for Bisbing was stoked for him to win in such amazing fashion.
All in all, a great night to be a Fight Fan. Much better than 194 which was way more expensive. Oh yeah I forgot about the 202 promo. Nate got a HUGE pop and standing ovation from the crowd. That was really cool.
