Kroos has the serinity and composure of a guy that's in his prime, but I feel like Kovacic covers more ground and is better at dribbling forward using his power, something Kroos can't do that well. You want a holding midfielder that's a workhorse, positions himself well and keeps a good midfield shape along with reliable short and long ball distribution? sure Kroos will do that, but Kovacic has the potential to be better than that. Being good defensively as a side back is nothing more than not getting a lot of cards, being fast and being intense, Alves or Marcelo may not be great at diving to a ball with their feet as in technique, but they're all over the wing and make sure no easy cross come into the box.
Marcelo does that as well as anyone, has a super soft left foot and is a professional to death. One of the best signings Real has made in their history.

It's on FM 15, currently played 21 games in my second season so the year is 2015. Ajer, Rasmussen and Laudal are getting closer to their GOAT potential, and managed to get my way through to the EL group stages after getting rekt by Lezch or whatever in CL qual. But of fucking course life is like laying on a bed of roses when you're playing a game made by sociopaths, so I'm contemplating whether or not I should just pack it in and move on after the season unless they start acting like adults instead of toddlers.
