>>67907890
in sprint races you have to complete the last lap on foot
>>67907890
Qualifying decides grid for longer feature race. Feature race results decide grid for shorter sprint race. Top-8 of the feature race are reversed for the sprint race. So, if you win the feature race, you will start 8th in the sprint race. If you are 8th, you will be on pole in the sprint race. If you are 9th, you start 9th.

>>67909839
Chassis that is basically the 2015 chassis which was basically the 2014 chassis slightly modified to fit the Mercedes engine (which Renault no longer have)
Basically a shit chassis not made for the engine it currently has. Renault have money and they're not idiots, it's almost certain that they aren't focusing on 2016 in the slightest. They have 2 basically disposable drivers, Magnussen somewhat there on merit but Palmer is just a seat filler and will probably drive only this current season and then never race in F1 again. Getting thoroughly beaten by Magnussen really isn't a good look considering that Magnussen was BTFO by Button
Point being is that they're focusing on 2017 with full force. There's no point in throwing millions into a shit car that might be midfield at best after huge upgrades. Might as well just focus on the new regs and new car as this year is basically just a transistion. I wouldn't be surprised if they had two new drivers for next season, at least 1 for certain. No point in keeping Ocon in the sidelines when Palmer does nothing impressive ever

patrick head:
>after about half an hour, riccardo [patrese] came out with a big smile on his face. i think he'd screwed $2.5 million out of frank, when he was quite prepared to drive for half of that.
>but frank can ve very hard at times. that's where damon went wrong. he sent in this awful non-charismatic fellow, michael breen, who was his manager. breen went into frank's office and didn't quite put his feet on the desk, but he put his briefcase on frank's desk, opened it up, leant back and said something along the lines of 'we're opening negociations at $15 million, frank, so if you want to start budding for damon for next year, that's where it starts.
>frank left a long silence - his nurse was in there at the time and told me this - which was embarrassing apparently. it went on for more than two minutes. then frank looked up at him and said 'when you come back with a sensibke number and proposal, i shall be very willing to talk to you.
>>67912010
>meanwhile, there's the door. i'd be very grateful if you'd take your briefcase off my desk and depart my office

>if damon had come in himself and sat down, he might not got what breen was asking for, but he would have got a lot of money. sending in some charmless lackey was a big mistake. frank's a sucker, and riccardo had him over like you wouldn't believe. but that was such a bad misjudgement by damon. breen didn't come back.

I read in one of my old magazines an interview with Damon in which he said that he wanted to join Benetton, but they had already resigned Berger and Alesi for another year. He was in talks then with Arrows, Prost and Stewart for 97. Hill and Prost remained good friends after 1993 (would have been nice to see Hill in the 97 Prost, considering it was a pretty decent car). Jackie Stewart wanted a top driver to join Barrichello (they would have had a pretty solid lineup and a bright future).
In the end Ford didn't want to pay Hill's wages for Stewart and Mugen Honda pressured Prost to sign Nakano. So he went to Arrows.
>>67919503
BAR's first season was a huge memefest.
>we have british american tobacco, reynard and the GOAT driver jacques villeneuve!
>we truly are mad men!
>we are going to win the first race!
>our cars will use different liveries!
>"no, they won't"
>FUCK YOU! we'll just have dual livery for both cars then and we'll put a giant zipper painting in the middle of the car
And then they proceeded to get no points. Villeneuve retired in the first 11 races of the season. And just as BAR started to get halfway decent, he got fired.
>>67920301
Sounds like something straight out of F1 manager
>>67920301
worth it to see villeneuve and zonta take eau rouge flat.
>>67919503
This is a good point, I knew I was forgetting something. The thing with Villeneuve though is that at least he has something to really show for it. At the end of the day he is still a world champion and his first 2 seasons were pretty stellar even if he is a massive carbabby. Kvyat on the other hand has like 2 podiums that he both lucked into and gets kicked out of the team as soon as they start winning again,
Plus it's not really that hugely embarrassing for Villeneuve, he achieved what he wanted to and I'm sure we all know he just ended up fulfilling his dreams and winning the title his father never could, it's just that it happened way too early so I guess he just got bored and lost interest.

>>67921264
>Kimi (either Ferrari really loves him or Ferrari is incredibly frustrated with him being shit, I can't decide which)
Don't be so hard on him.
Ferrari were only frustrated in 2014, last year they only put pressure on him in order to work a cheaper contract, that's all.
I don't see a reason to take him out of Ferrari, it's not like there's any strong replacement available.
Why would Hulk be gone? Foreskin india likes this combo they have.
Kyvat I get it, but since we know williams is considering him...
Button will likely end up at williams it seems, I would like him to stay longer, as he's still very capable and I'm not convinced by the any of the younger lads besides the RB boys.
>>67921339
>pascal paska :DDDD
fucking kek. he really does have a pineapple head.
>>67921593
I do want Kimi to stay in F1 but I do feel that Ferrari and upper mgmt there seems to be quite frustrated with his performances like that of today, where he is literally just off the pace of Vettel quite considerably for no particular reason. Granted he is doing much better this year but still there is the question of his age as well. If Ricciardo was attainable, Kimi would be dropped very quickly. And I think we can all agree that 2005 Kimi and 2016 Kimi aren't really a driver of the same level. Or who knows, maybe if the regs went back to what they were in 2005 he would be strong as hell again but he just really doesn't have that "fire" in the hybrid era. Even his time in Lotus he showed several times that he is still the real deal.
Hulk might stay but he might go as well. WEC is his eventual destination anyway and he seems to have stopped caring about F1. He was meant to be a champion and has been waiting for that top drive that's never going to come for like 6 years now. He's won basically everything else in his entire life except F1 where he's stuck in shitty midfield, now being consistently beaten by Sergio fucking Perez, which doesn't really light the world of potential future seats in better teams on fire. His only real option is to stay at Force India for another year as I don't see where else he could go.
Reminder that he rejected Haas to remain at Force India lol

so you think marcus is going to stay?
>>67922538
>where he is literally just off the pace of Vettel quite considerably for no particular reason
Did they express that concern openly?
To me it just seemed he was off the pace because:
Gearbox change penalty anyway, don't wanna fuck it up by pushing too hard...
Tire strat... although everyone is using US, Rai was using a different strategy on tires than Vet because maybe they want him to bang used ones and go for a super fresh set during the race, because after all he's got the penalty BUT it's monaco so there's always a chance of the order getting mixed due to massive fuck ups, so it'd be ideal to have him on that optional strat.
Or that's my impression, I haven't looked or read anything.
I'm biased though because I'm a big fan, so I can really comment on his talent as I've always perceived him as a very strong driver. That said, results are what matter in the end, and he has them and is a good reason he's still here, as one of the old early 00s drivers, and not retired like many many others.
I never rated Hulk as WDC material. The top seat in my opinion never came because of that. That said, he's a retard because the Haas to Ferrari bridge (if true, I had no idea about this) is shorter than the FI to Ferrari one, I don't think he had many chances, but he has even less now.

He pulled off the miracle of getting a drive after his glorious Caterham season so who knows. Money does not seem to be an issue. Tbf he isn't too bad of a driver and has actually shown some sort of development. If he can beat Nasr consistently then I can see him getting a drive elsewhere or continuing at Sauber if Sauber manages to not go bankrupt.
>>67924713
I mean yea he might stay but the fact is that he just is not as quick as Vettel. Certainly not as consistent. Of course they haven't publicly expressed such an opinion but it's clear what they expect and it's also clear that he continues to underperform.
Age-wise he is really not in a good way though because he is going to hit the cliff eventually.
Kimi is a great driver and probably the most naturally gifted on the grid right now. And I mean that, that is his whole career. Just showing up and driving. Its just that F1 has developed into an era where sheer talent and natural pace don't really get you too far when you can throw a 15 year old into a sim and have him drive the distance of 10x around the world before ever driving a meter in F1. Other drivers have talked about Kimi's skill and his natural ability to be fast. That's what he is, basically what you see on track is his natural ability. He supposedly often skips track walks and doesn't like simulators. The results you see is basically him showing up and going as fast as he can without any real prep or thought. Had he been racing in 1980's he would have been the GOAT but in this era F1 is about so much more so he doesn't really have an edge, plus he is notoriously lazy which is basically the opposite of what a modern F1 driver standards point towards

GUYS! GUYS! GUYS!
After crunching some numbers, "Mad Amx" = Maldonado. If he crashes his car at the start, expect his career to go down the toilet.
Maldonado: Wins the Spanish Grand Prix in his second season in his 24th race. Retires from Monaco the year before after contact at St. Devote. Wins the race despite pressure from a Ferrari behind, driven by a European driver who won a world championship. Is into a position as a result of an incident befalling Lewis Hamilton, but, even so, achieves the highest qualifying result of his career so far. Powered by a Renault engine. Has "a moment of madness" in practice, and starts last on the grid. Crashes at the start.

What a dumb idiot Lewis can be. I sometimes wonder why about 5% of the time I think Lewis is actually a nice dude when he's a whiny cunt 95% of the time.
Can someone tell me how starting on the SS is a good strategy?

don't worry he will bully mercedes

Basically can't overtake on Monaco and he can hold onto tires longer without a pitstop.
Hes also shown that the supersofts are by no means slow.

But he has to pit way later than everyone else. So when he eventually pits he will probably come out behind 2-3 cars
Or if he pits at the same time he has to make the ultrasofts last a fucking long time

He'll be fine

be in front after T1, others may have faster tires but it doesn't matter as you can't overtake, gets to run the fast tires at the end and get the advantage of best tires and light car and probably pull a gap due to this
Also if its looking like it's going to rain he gets to run the tire that lasts longer, reducing the chance of having to stop twice. If rain comes midway then ultrasoft runners might have to go
>ultra - SS - inter
whereas Ricky might be able to go
>SS - inter
due to the longer life of the SS tire

Don't worry, they WILL start on wet tyres anyway. Chance of rain is 100%
