So we had to bring in Machi to help with that, which he kind of did for like a month and then the bullpen just completely went to shit by the end of August until the end of September.

A same sided match up is favorable for the pitcher cuz they can hide the ball more and it moves away from the batter at a trickier angle

Teams have a rotation of pitchers that cycle through the games. The top of the rotation is known as your best two or three guys while the back end 4 and 5 starters aren't usually as good. But this rotation is subject to change throughout the season based on injuries, off days, matchup prefferences.
